Thalapathy Vijay has been making headlines because of his personal life for some time now. For the unversed, according to multiple reports, Vijay Thalapathy's wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, filed for divorce from her husband after 26 years of marriage. However, the shocking part of their separation was that the star wife was seeking a divorce on the grounds of her husband, Vijay Thalapathy's extramarital affair with an actress. According to the latest reports, Sangeetha filed a fresh petition against the actor-turned-politician.
According to the latest reports from Gulte and India Today, Vijay Thalapathy’s wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, has filed a fresh petition against the actor-turned-politician. In the petition, she has sought the right to stay in their matrimonial home or to be provided with an alternate accommodation. As per the petition, Vijay made it clear that his wife won’t be permitted to reside in the matrimonial home if she sought legal separation. In this regard, the star wife has asked for a fair and reasonable permanent alimony. Earlier, a report by Tamil Filmibeat claimed that Vijay has proposed an alimony of Rs. 250 crore to his wife. The petition can be read as:
"Vijay made it clear that she would not be permitted to reside in the matrimonial home if she chose to approach the court for legal separation."
There has been an ongoing tension between Vijay Thalapathy and his wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, for some time now. However, the shocking reason behind Sangeetha filing for divorce from her husband, Vijay Thalapathy, is infidelity. Yes, you read it right. As per the legal documents, Sangeetha discovered about her husband’s extramarital affair in 2021, but despite repeated assurances from him, the actor-turned-politician continued the illicit relationship.
According to a copy of the star wife’s divorce petition, Vijay Thalapathy kept travelling abroad with the actress with whom he had an affair. The petition also mentioned that the said actress continued to share pictures from their outing on her social media handle. In the petition, Sangeetha revealed that the affair caused immense agony to her and her children, Jason Sanjay and Divya Saasha. The petition can be read as:
"The respondent continued travelling abroad and attending public events with the said actress. The actress regularly posted photographs of these outings on social media. The respondent neither denied nor objected to these posts, thereby tacitly endorsing them. These posts widely circulated, causing repeated humiliation to the petitioner and the children."
Soon after Sangeetha’s claim about her husband travelling abroad with an actress surfaced online, social media users found out that Trisha Krishnan and Vijay Thalapathy were on vacation in Norway. The two were spotted at the airport. In fact, Vijay and Trisha’s recent public appearance further fuelled the speculations. For the unversed, the actor-turned-politician graced a wedding reception of Kalpathy Suresh and Meenakshi Suresh's son, along with actress, Trisha Krishnan. It is worth mentioning that neither BollywoodShaadis nor the author could verify if Trisha Krishnan has any connection with the ongoing divorce case involving Vijay Thalapathy and Sangeetha Sornalingam.
Vijay Thalapathy reportedly tied the knot with Sangeetha Sornalingam on August 25, 1999. The couple had an interfaith marriage as Vijay is a Christian and his wife, Sangeetha, is a Hindu. The duo welcomed their first child, a son named Jason Sanjay, on August 26, 2000. Five years later, on September 9, 2005, the couple completed their family by welcoming a daughter named Divya Saasha.
