Vijay Thalapathy's parents react to TVK's lead in the 2026 Tamil Nadu election and the chance of their son's possible win.
One look at the ongoing elections shows that Vijay Thalapathy's party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), is about to become the single largest party in Tamil Nadu. The actor's family was also recently seen in a celebratory mood. His family members even danced and sang the hit song, Whistle Podu from his film, The Greatest of All Time. As their celebrations continue, Vijay's father and mother shared their thoughts on TVK emerging as the lead.
Vijay's mother, Shoba Chandrashekhar, recently spoke to the news agency, ANI, reacting to TVK's latest counting trends and the party emerging as a lead. Beaming with happiness, she said, "I'm so happy." Vijay's father, SA Chandrasekhar, quipped that she is not only Vijay's mother but also his very first fan. This is why she is so happy. It is worth noting that it was Vijay's father, Chandrashekhar, who helped launch his career as a child artist back in the 1980s. Now, according to him, for the last 30 years, his son has hoped to "do something for Tamil Nadu." Well, as we can already see, Vijay's efforts have culminated in a stunning debut electoral performance in TN. Chandrasekhar stated:
"I am motivated. As a human, you should not only be an artist, you should have some social thinking. For last 30 years, he (Vijay) had something in his mind, that he has to do something for Tamil Nadu, slowly he has developed. Today he is going to be the Chief Minister."
Vijay's father, Chandrashekhar, further added that for the last two years, his son's confidence has been fantastic and he had complete faith that he would become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Chandrasekhar said that he appreciates Vijay's attitude and his boldness, that he will stand on his own legs with no alliance. He said:
"I think it's a historical success, a historical victory for Vijay. Tamil people loved him, not only as a leader. Every lady treats him like his own son, people treat him like their own brother. Sixty-year-olds consider him a grandson, he has developed that relationship with the public."
According to reports, TVK, Tamil Vettri Kazhagam, seems to be successfully pulling off what can be described as a historic debut performance. They are reportedly leading in over 130 seats in Tamil Nadu. Voting for the state election took place a few days ago, on April 23, 2026, on the same day as the first phase of the West Bengal poll. It is owing to his massive fan following that Vijay Thalapathy has emerged as a key player in the 2026 Tamil Nadu election.
While Vijay Thalapathy's parents are busy celebrating their son's potential win in the 2026 TN election, many have become curious about where his estranged wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, is. If reports are believed to be true, Sangeetha is most likely not at the Jana Nayagan star's Chennai home. This is because, since filing for divorce, she has been living separately from him. Reports suggest that she is based in London and even holds British citizenship. Apparently, Sangeetha takes care of her family's business interests out there. Well, even though she primarily resides in the UK, Sangeetha does occasionally travel to Chennai to attend the ongoing divorce proceedings.
