Vijay Thalapathy's dad, SA Chandrasekhar, cried after the former actor and his son became CM. He remembered the days of struggle.
Former Tamil actor and now turned politician, Vijay Thalapathy, has made his family proud. This is because on May 10, 2026, Vijay took the official oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Present were his father, SA Chandrasekhar, mom, Shoba, extended family members and rumoured love, Trisha Krishnan. Now, a video has surfaced on the social media, where Vijay's dad, SA Chandrasekhar was seen crying seeing his son make him proud and remembered his financial struggles.
Vijay Thalapathy's oath-taking ceremony was attended by an array of political leaders, movie personalities, and his close family members. However, it was Vijay's dad, filmmaker and actor SA Chandrasekhar, who spoke to the media and revealed that he was proud that his son had become the CM of Tamil Nadu. However, he did remember the time when, as a filmmaker and actor, he struggled for food after his son was born in 1974. In an interview with ANI, SA Chandrasekhar shared:
“What more can I ask for? My son has fulfilled my dream. I got married in 1973 and he was born in 1974. When he was born, I was an Assistant Director and I struggled even for food. He remembered everything."
SA Chandrasekhar did remember the time when he did not have money to even feed his family. This is because there was a time when he was working in movies as a supporting cast member and was also facing a financial crunch. He remembered the days when his family even struggled with basic necessities like food because SA Chandrasekhar was not earning well.
SA Chandrasekhar, according to an earlier report by Telangana Today, had expressed gratitude to his sea of fans for their support. Vijay's dad believed his fans loved him for his movies and had been very hopeful that Tamil Nadu would now make a drastic shift. This is because the actor has many plans in mind regarding the state. SA Chandrasekhar had already revealed that he was super proud of his son Vijay Thalapathy's political journey. The hopeful father, giving his blessings to his son, had said that the people of Tamil Nadu are expecting big things from him. SA Chandrasekhar is aware that his son will definitely make the people of Tamil Nadu extremely proud through his work.
Vijay Thalapathy had started off as a child actor, and he had taken time to convince his fans of where he belonged. The actor had not entered the Tamil cinema like Rajinikanth or Kamal Hassan. Vijay's earlier roles were very modest, has had a boy next door appeal and his work was ordinary. Vijay via his roles showed that love could be fierce, the heart of a heroine had to be won and internal suffering did exist in real. When Vijay worked in Ghilli, there was a dramatic shift in the way audiences perceived him. There was a kinetic force where this young man could joke, run and also fight at the same time.
The actor is married to Sangeetha Sornalingam, who is now considered his estranged wife. She has filed for a divorce and has accused the actor of adultery with an unknown actress. The lady who is linked with Vijay is none other than Trisha Krishnan. His chemistry with Trisha Krishnan made fans go berserk for the duo. The actor slowly and steadily changed the tone of Tamil cinema.
