In an interview with Gopinathon on a TV show, the actor recalled of how his dream of pursuing acting created issues between him and Jessy. He remembered:
"When I knew they wouldn't approve, I started taking photos secretly. But Jessy found out about it. By then, she was pregnant for the second time. Jessy furiously said, I’m going to my mother’s house, and walked away. But Vijay Sethupathi immediately ran over, placed his hand on her stomach, and promised, I won't act anymore. My family is more important."
Vijay Sethupathi never revealed much about his personal life with his wife, Jessy. His love story with Jessy is too cute to miss. It was in 2003 when Vijay married the Tamil girl, Jessy and he was planning to return to Dubai post his wedding. Reportedly their families did not approve of their relationship and they took time to understand that the couple wanted to be together. Even Vijay Sethupathi's son, Surya made his debut in the movie, Phoenix, which received a lot of fame from the fans.
