Throwback to the time when Vijay Deverakonda's parents spoke about what kind of daughter-in-law they dream of.
Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda, the much-loved couple has finally put all gossips and speculations surrounding their marriage to rest. Recently, the duo revealed that they are set to get married and gave a cute tag, 'VIROSH', to their wedding. Currently, the couple has reached Udaipur for their intimate wedding. Just like their engagement in October 2025, they have planned to keep their marriage low-key.
Recently, a report surfaced claiming that OTT giant, Netflix, with a lucrative offer of Rs. 60 crore for the exclusive rights to stream their wedding. However, the duo rejected the offer. For the unversed, Rashmika and Vijay are set to tie the knot on February 26, 2025, in Udaipur. Ahead of their small, intimate wedding, let’s have a look back at a time when Vijay’s parents spoke about the kind of bahu they wished for.
For the uninitiated, Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s first film, Geetha Govindam, was a massive box office blockbuster. In 2018, at the success meet of Geetha Govindam, anchor Suma had a conversation with Vijay’s parents, Madhavi and Govardhan Rao. Suma had brought up the topic of the Arjun Reddy actor’s marriage during the conversation and asked what kind of daughter-in-law they dream of.
In reply, Vijay’s mom, Madhavi, said that the girl should understand her son’s profession. She said, "I just want a daughter-in-law who looks after my son well. She should just love him unconditionally, that’s all. He is in the industry, so she should understand him." Vijay’s father, Govardhan, agreed to Madhavi and added that he wanted his son to marry whoever he wanted. However, Govardhan added that if Vijay were to get married to an Indian, especially a South Indian, he would be happy. He was quoted as saying:
"I just want him to marry whoever he wants. I don’t have any objections or expectations. I also don’t have any expectations of caste or religion. It would make me happy if he married an Indian, especially a South Indian."
During the same conversation, Vijay shared his take on marriage. He shared that he wanted to have a love marriage, but his parents need to love the girl. Later, during the promotions of his then-upcoming movie, Kushi, co-starring Samantha, the Dear Comrade actor mentioned that arranged marriage was not his thing. He was quoted as saying:
"I have to be mentally prepared for my wedding, and I will not go with an arranged marriage. I have to spend time with the girl before getting married. She also has to get bonded with my family members."
Years after keeping their relationship low-key, Rashmika Mandanna has finally made it official. She revealed that she is all set to get married to her fiance, Vijay Deverakonda. On February 22, 2026, she finally put an end to all speculations surrounding their marriage. She wrote a note and revealed the name of their wedding ceremony. For those aware, Rashmika and Vijay kept their wedding ceremony name, 'VIROSH', which was given to them by their beloved fans. She wrote:
"Our Dearest loves, Before we made any plans, before we chose anything for ourselves—you were already there. With so much love, you gave us a name. You called us ‘VIROSH’. So today — with full hearts, we name our coming together in your honour. We would like to name it —‘The Wedding of VIROSH’. Thank you for holding us with so much love. You are a part of us — always. Biggest hugs and full love!"
