As per the latest reports, actor Thalapathy Vijay and his wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam's divorce case hearing has been adjourned.
Thalapathy Vijay’s personal life has been making headlines ever since the report of his divorce from his wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, surfaced in the media. For the unversed, in February 2026, Sangeetha filed for a divorce from Vijay in the Chengalpattu Family Court. In the plea, she reportedly made some shocking allegations against the actor, including his infidelity with an actress. And now, there has been an update on the case.
On April 20, 2026, the Chengalpattu Family Welfare Court in Tamil Nadu postponed the hearing to June 15, 2026. According to recent reports, the case came before Judge Sasikala for hearing, and after a brief session, the judge adjourned it, pushing the hearing to mid-June.
On February 27, 2026, news of Thalapathy Vijay and Sangeetha Sornalingam’s separation surfaced online. According to a report by The Indian Express, Vijay’s wife has filed for divorce at the Chengalpattu Family Court. Her petition was filed under Section (1)(a), (b), (d) and Sections 36 & 37 of the Special Marriage Act, 1954.
Sageetha and Vijay had an interfaith marriage and tied the knot in 1999. The couple, who have two kids, are parting ways after 26 years of marriage. In her petition, Sangeetha stated that she discovered an alleged affair involving Vijay and a female actress in April 2021. Sangeetha, in her petition, also stated that despite many assurances, Vijay continued his illicit relationship. The petition can be read as:
“The respondent continued travelling abroad and attending public events with the said actress. The actress regularly posted photographs of these outings on social media. The respondent neither denied nor objected to these posts, thereby tacitly endorsing them. These posts widely circulated, causing repeated humiliation to the petitioner and the children."
Though Sangeetha didn’t mention the name of the actress with whom Vijay has been in an illicit relationship. But his closeness to Trisha has been widely discussed for the past many years. As soon as Sangeetha filed for divorce, people were certain that the actress she mentioned was none other than Trisha Krishnan. Days after Sangeetha announced her divorce, Vijay and Trisha were seen at a wedding reception in Chennai. Both of them had even worn matching attire, adding more fuel to the speculation.
After the news of his divorce, the actor attended a Women’s Meet. During the event, Vijay finally broke his silence on the ongoing divorce drama. Addressing the crowd, the Jana Nayagan actor told them not to worry about the recent problems surrounding him. He was quoted as saying:
“Don’t worry about the recent problems surrounding me. Those issues are not worth your time. I will take care of them and myself. What hurts me the most is seeing you feel sad or stressed because of my problems."
