SIT recreates Twisha Sharma's death scene

On Wednesday, May 25, 2026, the Madhya Pradesh Special Investigation Team (SIT) recreated the death scene of Twisha Sharma at her in-laws’ house in Katara Hills area of Bhopal, a day after her last rites were performed at Bhadbhada Vishram Ghat. The procedure reportedly lasted for over two hours and involved taking the victim's husband, Samarth Singh, into custody. Police sources say the process has been fully videotaped as part of the evidence.

The latest developments come just as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officially took over the high-profile case. Samath Singh claims Twisha was 'distressed' after abortion, says he gave her Rs. 7 lakh

Police sources alleged that when asked about the period during which Samarth Singh was reportedly absconding after the incident, he repeatedly tried to mislead the investigators. During the SIT's interrogation, Samarth allegedly kept on insisting that Twisha had been emotionally distressed following an abortion. Officials say Samarth repeated his prior claims about escalating marital tensions with Twisha ever since the latter had learned that she was pregnant.

Samarth Singh reportedly went on saying that he and his family had given Twisha a total of Rs. 6 lakh during the course of their five-month marriage. The claim is now being examined alongside all financial records and transaction details. With the case now being regarded as a high-profile crime investigation, the authorities have seized Samarth’s laptop, mobile phone, Aadhaar card, passport, and several other documents considered important to the case.

Twisha Sharma's family continues to allege dowry-related harassment

Twisha Sharma, a former Miss Pune titleholder originally from Noida, was found hanging at her marital home just months after her December 2025 wedding to Samarth Singh. Just hours before her alleged suicide, she had spent around three hours at a salon barely 100 metres away from her in-laws' house. In videos and screengrabs from the salon's CCTV footage, she appeared normal and relaxed.

According to Twisha’s family, she was to leave the Bhopal house on the fateful day, and her brother was to receive her at her hometown on July 15, 2026. While Samarth’s family and the initial post-mortem report have maintained that Twisha died by suicide, her family has consistently alleged dowry harassment, domestic violence, and mental torture. Even Twisha's sister-in-law, Rashi, has vouched that she indeed was getting harassed and abused at her in-laws' house.

According to her family's FIR, Twisha spoke to her mother shortly before her death, and that shouting from Samarth could allegedly be heard during the call before it got abruptly disconnected. When they repeatedly tried calling back, Samarth’s mother, former district judge Giribala Singh, answered the phone and informed them that Twisha was “no more” before ending the call.

The Twisha Sharma case was heard at the Supreme Court on May 25, 2026. The Chief Justice of India, Surya Kant, said a free and impartial probe into the case of Twisha Sharma's demise was needed. Meanwhile, a second autopsy conducted by a specialised AIIMS Delhi medical team is still awaited.
