A video featuring emotional Trisha Krishnan at Vijay Thalapathy's oath-taking ceremony in Chennai is going viral on social media.
Vijay Thalapathy has been grabbing a lot of attention after he won the Tamil Nadu Assembly Election. On May 10, 2026, Vijay took the oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. It is worth noting that Vijay replaced DMK’s MK Stalin with his newly formed party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). However, it was Vijay’s rumoured partner, Trisha Krishnan, who stole the spotlight with her dazzling presence at the oath-taking ceremony. While Trisha made headlines with her presence, eagle-eyed fans noticed Vijay’s wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam’s absence in the ceremony.
Thalapathy Vijay’s oath-taking ceremony was held on May 10, 2026, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai. As the actor-turned-politician achieved this milestone, his rumoured partner, Trisha Krishnan, stood by his side. On April 23, 2026, the Leo actress took to her Instagram handle and shared snaps of her inked finger. She had attached the song, Arjunar Villu, from her 2013 hit movie, Ghilli, in her post.
Trisha grabbed the limelight with her presence at Vijay’s oath-taking ceremony. The Ghilli actress was seen in a blue-toned saree, and in a traditional look, she looked simply gorgeous. In a now-viral video, Trisha Krishnan was seen teary-eyed as her rumoured beau, Thalapathy Vijay, took oath as the CM of Tamil Nadu. In another video, Trisha was seen adorably greeting Vijay's mom and other family members. Trisha’s warm hug to Vijay’s mom intensified the family rift buzz.
Currently, the actor-turned-politician, Vijay Thalapathy’s near and dear ones are celebrating his massive win at the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly Election. However, Vijay’s estranged wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam and their two children, son, Jason Sanjay and daughter, Divya Saasha, refrained from sharing any public statement or any congratulatory messages for him. The trio’s absence at Vijay’s oath-taking ceremony further fuelled ongoing speculation about a family feud.
Vijay’s son, Jason, is reportedly in Canada now. As per reports, Jason went abroad to pursue film studies. A few days back, Jason grabbed a lot of attention when he unfollowed Vijay on Instagram and removed his dad’s initial. For those unaware, Jason opted to credit himself as Jason Sanjay S. This S reportedly stand for his mother, Sangeetha Sornalingam. Vijay's estranged wife, Sangeetha, is reportedly based in London and holds British citizenship. She manages her family's business over there. As per reports, Sangeetha is possibly in London. She primarily lives in the UK and occasionally travels to Chennai for the ongoing court proceedings. Vijay’s daughter, Divya’s current whereabouts are not known.
On February 27, 2026, Sangeetha filed for divorce from Vijay at the Chengalpattu Family Court. According to a report by The Indian Express, Sangeetha’s divorce petition was filed under Section (1)(a), (b), (d) and Sections 36 & 37 of the Special Marriage Act, 1954. However, it was the reason behind the filing for divorce that shocked everyone. Sangeetha cited in her petition about Vijay’s infidelity.
The star wife mentioned that she got to know about his husband’s extramarital affair in 2021 but maintained silence due to his repeated assurances. But he kept travelling abroad with the actress. According to the latest reports, on April 20, 2026, the Chengalpattu Family Welfare Court in Tamil Nadu postponed the hearing of Sangeetha and Vijay’s case to June 15, 2026. An excerpt of the petition can be read as:
"The respondent continued travelling abroad and attending public events with the said actress. The actress regularly posted photographs of these outings on social media."
