Towards the post-credits, ‘Lilypad’ appears once again on screen. She starts playing a song, and the other toys join her. A few characters who did not get sufficient screen space in the film get a chance to show their best here. This includes ‘Hamm’ and ‘Mr. Potato Head,’ who can be spotted dancing.

The end of Toy Story 5 leads to the start of a new relationship between ‘Blaze’ and ‘Bonnie.’ However, the mid-credits scene is very different here and has a lot of innocence and cuteness. It shows a boy on a playground. A ‘Buzz Lightyear’ drone lands on him. This is followed by many other ‘Buzz Lightyears’ doing the same thing, joining one kid. The scene even refers to the fact that the toys have finally realised the meaning of the life they have spent with the kids.

There is also the introduction of a new character. It is none other than ‘Zurg,’ who claims that he is ‘Buzz’s’ father. This is in reference to the second entry of the animated franchise. On the other hand, the scene where the ‘Buzz Lightyears’ land on the kids is a reference to another moment from the film where a few children on a camping trip find a ‘Buzz’ in the woods. The other ‘Buzzes’ try to save him. But the ‘Buzz’ tells the others to leave.

Is Toy Story 6 confirmed? Andrew Stanton opens up on the possibilities

Following the release of Toy Story 4 in 2019, the arrival of a fifth film was uncertain as Pixar was willing to prioritise original stories instead of sequels. However, the fifth film remained in discussion for some time until it was officially confirmed in 2023.

Director Andrew Stanton appeared for an interview before the release of Toy Story 5, where he was questioned if the latest entry would mark the end of the franchise. It was pointed out that the previous two films had almost concluded the storyline. Andrew responded by saying that there was a possibility of Toy Story 6. He also said that the next sequel might focus more on 'Bonnie.' He addressed the same by saying:

“I always knew that there was a natural possibility to just follow Bonnie, and just follow her life, and just see what happens to the toys if it keeps going. So there was always that seed. It’s like a series that doesn’t know it’s going to get picked up for the next season. We’d always end it like it could end here, but we’ve passed the badge on from Woody to Jessie at the end of 4, just in case it keeps going.”

Apart from ‘Woody,’ ‘Buzz Lightyear,’ and ‘Jessie,’ Toy Story 5 features ‘Lilypad’ as a new character, voiced by Greta Lee. The film has a lineup of other popular faces like Conan O’Brien, Scarlett Spears, Shelby Rabara, Mykal-Michelle Harris, Craig Robinson, John Hopkins, Ernie Hudson, Krys Marshall, and more.
