For the unversed, Tom was widely known for lending his voice in the Star Wars franchise and the animated series, The Powerpuff Girls. Legendary voice actor, Tom Kane began his voice acting career in 1977. At the time, he was 15. However, his illustrious career came to a halt in 2020 as he suffered a severe stroke. Following the stroke, Tom retired from voice acting. According to a report by Business Upturn, Tom earned most of his fortune through his voice acting work for animated television series, blockbuster video games, commercials, and film narration. According to the same report, Tom had an estimated net worth between USD 3 million and USD 6 million.
According to a report by TMZ, the legendary voice artist’s cause of death was due to complications from his 2020 stroke. His talent agency, Galactic Productions, announced the devastating news of his demise. Paying tribute to Tom’s legacy, his TA penned a lengthy, heartfelt note on Facebook. "Today we say goodbye to Tom Kane — a legendary voice actor whose work shaped the childhoods and imaginations of millions around the world. From his unforgettable performances in Star Wars to countless animated series, documentaries, and games, Tom brought wisdom, strength, humour, and heart to every role he touched. His voice became part of our lives, our memories, and the stories we carry with us. Though his voice may now be silent, the characters, stories, and love he gave to the world will live on forever. Rest in peace, Tom Kane. Thank you for everything. May the Force be with you, always."
Tom Kane’s long career spanned over four decades. Over the years, Tom had won many hearts through his voice. He was admired for voicing Star Wars Universe characters such as 'Yoda', 'Admiral Yularen' and 'Admiral Ackbar' in shows, films and video games. Apart from the Star Wars franchise, Tom had also lent voices in The Powerpuff Girls, Call of Duty Zombies franchise, Wolverine and the X-Men, and many characters in Fortnite, Kim Possible and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.
Tom is survived by his wife, Cindy Roberts and his nine children, three biological and six adopted and foster children. Tom’s representative, Zach McGinnis, told TMZ that he was an extraordinary man. Zach also mentioned that Tom was a devoted husband and a loving father to his children. Zach was quoted as saying:
"Beyond the incredible career, he was an extraordinary man. Tom was a devoted husband and father who, alongside his wife, built a loving family of nine children — three biological and six welcomed through adoption and fostering."
A while back, actor, Roger Clark paid tribute to Tom. He wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "I just heard about Tom Kane passing away. He was one of the first voice actors to approach me after Red Dead II came out. He invited me into his home and showed me his setup. He had a big, welcoming family. It was a joy to be invited and be their guest. Sad day. May he rest in peace and may his beautiful family never forget his love." Another comment can be read as:
"It makes it even worse knowing what had happened to him a few years ago with the stroke. I feel so bad for his poor daughter, who kept giving his fans updates on his progress. May he rest in peace. My favourite game character he ever voiced was Takeo Masaki in the COD Zombies series."
