The Raja Saab is a Telugu-language horror-fantasy comedy starring Prabhas in the titular role. Prabhas plays 'Raju', a young man who lives with his grandmother, 'Gangamma' (Zarina Wahab), who has Alzheimer's. 'Raju' is a young man with a rebellious spirit and strong comedic timing. He appears in dual roles, playing both the modern-day grandson and an older version of himself, 'Raja Saab'. 'Raju's' 'Gangamma', is a former princess who lost her royal status and wealth, and longs for her missing husband, 'Kanakaraju' (Sanjay Dutt).
The main plot centres on 'Raju' discovering that 'Kanakaraju' (the antagonist) is alive and living in Hyderabad. He then travels there to find him and restore his grandmother's happiness and reputation. 'Raju's' search leads him and his companion 'Bhairavi' (Malavika Mohanan) to an ancient ancestral mansion in the Narsapur forest. There, he discovers that his grandfather is no longer human; instead, he has been dead for years and exists as a malevolent ghost. The movie's climax includes a thrilling showdown between 'Raju' and his grandfather.
'Raju' discovers that the mansion is a trap set by 'Kanakaraju', who practised dark arts, who seeks rebirth to regain his former powers. 'Raju' must engage in a battle of minds and supernatural face-offs with the spirit of his grandfather to save his grandmother and escape the mansion. Amid 'Raju's' unusual life, he will also experience sparks of romance in the form of 'Anitha' and 'Besse'. 'Anitha' (Riddhi Kumar) is Raju's childhood sweetheart who supports him financially during his search. 'Besse' (Nidhhi Agerwal) is a nun who becomes 'Raju's' love interest before the supernatural elements take over.
According to OTTPlay, the digital streaming rights for The Raja Saab have been acquired by JioHotstar. It will be available in multiple languages, including Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada. A movie's OTT run typically begins around two months after its theatrical release. Notably, the OTT release date and platform for The Raja Saab are based entirely on the latest media reports. The production team or the OTT site managers have yet to provide official confirmation. The sequel to Prabhas' horror-comedy film, The Raja Saab, was officially confirmed following its worldwide theatrical release on January 9, 2026. The sequel is titled The Raja Saab 2: Circus 1935. Director, Maruthi has stated that part 2 will not be a direct continuation of the first film's storyline.
