Alongside Nani, the film also stars Raghav Juyal, Kayadu Lohar, Sonali Kulkarni, Mohan Babu and others. Directed by Srikanth Odela, the film explores a story of a marginalised community, involving a mother and her son. Amid the buzz, here’s how the action thriller ends.
The Paradise is set in 1980s erstwhile Hyderabad, where a nomadic community named Savari struggles for identity, dignity, recognition and basic rights. Nani portrays the role of 'Jadal', who is also part of this community. Sonali Kulkarni plays the role of 'Jadal's' mother, 'Sammakka'. According to director Srikanth Odela, The Paradise is a revolutionary and emotional film.
'Sammakka' is a fearless woman who is fighting to secure legal identity cards and recognition for her oppressed, marginalised tribal community, the Savari. However, her activism causes serious harm to the ruthless local ruler 'Shikanja Maalik's' (played by Mohan Babu) ego. 'Shikanja's' wrath falls on young 'Jadal' when he gets into a brawl with his son, 'Vikram Maalik', a.k.a. 'Chota Malik' (played by Raghav Juyal), over a plate of biryani.
When 'Jadal' stands up for himself and steals the plate of biryani from 'Chota Malik', 'Shikanja' retaliates brutally. He beats young 'Jadal' and forces a tattoo ', son of a whore' onto his forearm. However, 'Shikanja' does not stop there. After forcing the humiliating tattoo onto 'Jadal', he frames him and arrests him on murder charges. Due to the false murder case, 'Jadal' has to serve a 14-year sentence.
This experience leaves 'Jadal' traumatised and causes him to grow up despising and blaming his mother, 'Sammakka'. Fourteen years later, 'Jadal' returns from prison and wants to seek revenge on 'Shikanja' and 'Vikram'. He still holds a grudge against his mother, 'Sammakka'. That’s when he meets his ladylove, 'Subbalakshmi', a.k.a. 'Subbu'. As he navigates his own complicated relationship with his mother and is literally consumed by anger towards the oppressive system, 'Jadal' finds solace in 'Subbu'.
Gradually, 'Jadal' becomes involved in a larger fight against the system controlling his Savari community. As he goes deeper, his complicated relationship with his mother, 'Sammakka', starts to unfold. He learns about her past and her long struggle to gain legal recognition for her tribe. It is worth mentioning that 'Sammakka' has spent years fighting for her community’s identity and dignity.
'Sammakka's' personal sacrifices become clearer to her son, 'Jadal', as he starts seeing the larger cause behind her decisions. 'Shikanja' is the immediate challenge, whose feudal control keeps the Savari community oppressed. 'Jadal' and his people fail repeatedly and face obstacles because of 'Shikanja's' power and his longstanding grudges against them. The fight between 'Jadal' and 'Shikanja' eventually reaches a crucial turning point. 'Shikanja' makes sure that 'Jadal' and his tribe can no longer use their thumbprints as a way to establish their legal identity.
However, 'Shikanja's' move does not stop 'Sammakka', and with her willpower, she is ready to fight back. A government official allows 'Sammakka' to use her toe print instead. This gives the Savari community a path toward official legal recognition and marks an important victory in their long struggle. Soon after his victory, an emotional side of 'Sammakka' gets unveiled. 'Sammakka' gave birth to twins, a boy and a girl. While 'Jadal' survived, his twin sister died at birth.
Before her death, 'Sammakka' reveals that she had named 'Jadal', 'Sarakka' in memory of his dead twin sister. So, 'Jadal' is not his real name but a nickname given by his community because he has very long hair. He keeps his hair long as a way of honouring and remembering his dead sister. 'Sammakka's' revelation changes 'Jadal's' understanding of his mother. The Paradise ends with 'Jadal' holding his mother’s feet as she dies.
