The first instalment featured 'Andy' working for Runway magazine’s editor-in-chief, 'Miranda Priestly,' as a junior personal assistant. 'Andy' also meets 'Miranda’s' senior assistant, 'Emily Charlton,' while trying to find another job in the world of journalism by using the connections from Runway magazine.
Variety reported in May 2025 that the sequel will focus on 'Andy,' who is struggling with the complications of traditional magazine publishing, which is slowly witnessing the end. The situation is expected to take a worse turn for 'Andy' as 'Emily Charlton' is now a powerful executive for a luxury group with a lot of money for advertising. The film will feature 'Andy' and 'Emily' facing off against each other.
Considering that The Devil Wears Prada 2 will continue from where the first film ended, it will witness the return of the lead cast. Anne Hathaway will reprise her role as 'Andy,' followed by Meryl Streep playing 'Miranda Priestly.' Emily Blunt is also returning as 'Emily Charlton,' alongside Stanley Tucci playing 'Nigel Kipling.'
