In a recent conversation with VJ Siddhu, Jason Sanjay got candid about his 1.5-year relationship. He revealed that love happened to him only once when he was in college. They were in love for about a year and a half and mutually decided to end their relationship. He said:
"It was a long time ago, when we were in college. We were in love for about a year and a half."
Jason revealed the relationship came to an end when he was studying filmmaking in London. In the same interview, Jason was asked how he dealt with the breakup. In response, he said that he would listen to Yuvan Shankar Raja’s love songs during that phase. The Sigma director also revealed that he consciously avoided social media after the breakup. Jason explained that staying away from social media helped him a lot. He said:
"If we post stories after the breakup and then reconnect, we can’t get out of it. So we kept a distance between us. I always control myself to not do things that I don’t want to do."
Further, in the interview, Jason said he has no hard feelings about the relationship today and is comfortable with how things turned out. He shared that both of them have now moved on in their lives. Jason added that after moving on from the breakup, he turned his attention towards his filmmaking ambitions.
Jason Sanjay was born on August 26, 2000, to Tamil CM C. Joseph Vijay and Sangeetha. Earlier, in March 2026, Jason changed his professional name. According to a report by Filmy Figures, in the Tamil film industry, star kids use the first letter of their father's name in their name. However, Jason made a significant move by changing his name from his father's initial 'V' to the letter 'S', making it Jason Sanjay S. This S reportedly stands for his mother, Sangeetha Sornalingam.
Jason Sanjay studied filmmaking abroad in Canada and London to learn the art of storytelling. In an interview with Cinema Viketan, Jason shared that he wrote a 120-page script when he was studying filmmaking in Canada. However, he could not make a feature film back then and thus turned the script into a 20-minute short film. Jason made the short film to understand what he could do as a director.
In the same conversation, the filmmaker shared that his family’s immense support gave him confidence to pursue his career in filmmaking. Recalling the moment, Jason said that when he told his parents, sister and friends that he wanted to enter cinema, everyone responded positively, which became a huge source of energy for him.
