If the reports are to be believed, his wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, has filed for a divorce from him after decades of marriage. It was reported that the divorce was filed by Sangeetha in the Chengalpattu Family Court, and in the plea, she reportedly made some shocking allegations against the actor, including his infidelity with an actress.

It was back in 2024, when photos of Thalapathy Vijay and Trisha Krishnan went viral, and it was singer Suchitra, whose comments created a stir around. By that time, Trisha and Vijay were already getting linked up, even without any official confirmation. It was Suchitra who termed several things as a negative influence around the actor. And speaking about the same, Suchitra said that she didn't like Trisha at all. She further added that she would give her opinion without any judgment, as she likes Vijay. Stating that she wouldn't take sides, Suchitra said:
"I don’t like Trisha at all. I will tell this objectively and will not let it color my judgment. I like Vijay very much. I will give my opinion honestly without taking sides."
In the same interview, Suchitra said that 'parasites' often enter people's lives when they tend to isolate themselves, and Vijay also did the same, by distancing himself from his parents and wife. She shared that Vijay has done it alone, but he has done no soul-searching. Suchitra went on to add that when Vijay entered politics, it was his father who could have guided him on the right track and could have supported him better. Suchitra could be quoted as saying:
"Parasites tend to enter the lives of successful people when they become isolated. Vijay has isolated himself by distancing himself from his parents and wife. He is alone but has done no soul-searching till now. Amidst this, he has come into politics; to be honest about it he needs his father Chandrashekhar who may steer him through political waters otherwise he would achieve nothing in politics because if any good things can happen to him in politics they should be supported by his father.”
