The young lawyer who was shamed by a Texas judge for her attire in her court has once again made some sharp claims against the judge. The Bexar County Judge, identified as Yolanda Huff, is now being called out for double standards with Mariah Medina. The buzz began when Mariah shared a picture of Yolanda with The New York Post; the photograph is allegedly from her Facebook page and shows her standing next to another young lawyer in a similar dress.
Sharing the pictures, Mariah Medina has now raised questions about whether race had something to do with the scolding. For those who are unfamiliar with the incident, Bexar County Judge Yolanda Huff, who is black, called out Mariah Medina, who is Mexican-American, for wearing the sheath dress during a Monday, September 21, 2026, court appearance.
Mariah Medina, hurt by what happened in court, took to social media and shared the incident, and now she has provided photos that the 61-year-old judge shared on Facebook in April 2026 showing Yolanda Huff beaming alongside a bare-armed black attorney at a swearing-in ceremony. Sharing the pictures, Mariah has raised some serious questions about the judge. She was quoted as saying:
"Evidently it wasn't the dress. I don't know whether my race, whether my age, whether my gender, I don't know whether any of that played a factor. If it was truly about the professionalism of my attire, I just would expect that it would be enforced across the board, and it's evident here that it wasn't enforced across the board."
The defense attorney, who previously worked as a TV news reporter in San Antonio, has practiced law for just over a year. However, in the now-viral encounter at Bexar County Court, Yolanda Huff referred to Mariah Medina's outfit as a "tank top." She asked the young lawyer if she was even ready for a trial "dressed like that" and then laughed at her in front of other attorneys and defendants in open court.
The humiliating encounter was still on Mariah Medina's mind when she returned to the courthouse on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. Even though she wore a red dress with sleeves this time, for her appearance before a different judge, she felt self-conscious walking into court. She said:
"Still thinking about what happened. I just know that seeing it on my feed, seeing people discuss me, my dress, seeing it on social media. It felt like I wondered if people know about this or are talking about this."
According to reports, the J. Crew sheath dress at the center of the controversy was purchased four years ago for just USD 20. Mariah Medina revealed that she has the same dress in pink, blue, and red. For those who don't know, Mariah will be back in Yolanda Huff's court in November 2026. She was quoted as saying:
"In any event, it felt kind of bizarre because you know how parents always say something to the effect of, 'Nobody is looking at you'...It's just been something that I thought was gonna blow off by now, but it only seems to be getting more and more attention."
