The texts between Taylor Swift and Blake Lively have been unsealed in court. The conversation was retrieved in Justin Baldoni's lawsuit over the 'It Ends With Us' row.
The legal drama between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni is not close to being over, and now the pop sensation, Taylor Swift, has been dragged into the case. The Life of a Showgirl star, who is also best friends with Blake, allegedly shared some texts with the actress, which have now been shared in court. And here's what you need to know about what the them.
According to reports, the text exchange between Taylor Swift and Blake Lively was revealed in an unsealed court document in Justin Baldoni's lawsuit against Blake over the film, It Ends With Us. The texts were part of a document that was filed at a federal court in New York City by the actress' team. As per The Daily Mail, the papers were submitted to the court in response to Justin's legal team.
For the unversed, Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni have been at a legal war since the release of their film, It Ends With Us. The feud stems from Blake's lawsuit against Justin, whom she accused of s**ual harassment, retaliation, and creating a hostile work environment during the filming of Colleen Hoover's It Ends With Us. While Justin denied the allegations and filed a countersuit claiming defamation and extortion against the Simple Favour actress, her husband, Ryan Reynolds and many of the actress' friends, including Taylor Swift.
Now that the conversation between Taylor and Blake is out in the open, here are some key points you need to know. According to reports, the documents revealed that Taylor Swift already knew about the forthcoming December 2024 New York Times article on Baldoni and It Ends With Us. The text read, "I think this b**** (Justin Baldoni) knows something is coming because he's gotten out his tiny violin."
The message is also closely tied to the lyrics of her song, CANCELLED! , which read, "Were you too smug for your own good? Or bring a tiny violin to a knife fight? Baby, that all ends tonight." The December 2024 NYT article alleged that Justin Baldoni had "pivoted away" from promoting the film and that many of the film's crew had unfollowed him on social media.
The conversation also shared another major revelation. In the documents, there is evidence that Blake Lively actively sought Taylor Swift's support for her rewrite of the script for It Ends With Us and the larger row with Justin Baldoni. What really caught everyone's attention, however, was a text from Taylor to Blake in 2023. On April 13, 2023, Lively asked Taylor for help with the issue, to which Swift responded, saying:
"I'll do anything for you!!"
The conversation also revealed that Taylor Swift had met Justin Baldoni at Blake Lively's apartment. According to the documents shared by Blake's legal team, Taylor has met with Justin Baldoni to convince him to direct a revised script of It Ends With Us that Lively was proposing. While Taylor endorsed the revised draft and pushed Justin to do so, the text reveals that the two friends even celebrated afterwards.
Justin Baldoni's team has marked this exchange. Meanwhile, Blake Lively's legal team has disputed the claim that she sought Taylor's help with the script. In the text, Blake commends Taylor and shares that she told her husband, Ryan Reynolds, about the entire encounter. The text from Blake to Taylor Swift can be read as:
"You were so epically heroic today. I recapped every moment to Ryan (Reynolds). I kept remembering stuff—You making s**t up about me and lenses. And referring to yourself as my doll. This clown falling for all of it. But also resisting it."
It is also worth noting that Taylor Swift and her team have maintained that she was not actively involved in Blake Lively's row with the It Ends With Us director, Justin Baldoni. While I Can Do It With A Broken Heart singer had asserted that she was not actively involved in what happened during the making of the film, the texts seem to have unsettled those claims. Especially, as the texts appear to reveal that Blake and her "best friend," Taylor Swift, had been discussing Blake's ongoing issues with Baldoni all along.
Another revelation that stuck out during the hearing was that the court documents also revealed that Blake Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, sought help from several big names in Hollywood, including Matt and Lucy Damon, to endorse Blake Lively's cut of It Ends With Us. Justin Baldoni's side has argued that Ryan told the Damons that Justin was a "malignantly venal, sociopathic FAUX-minist with almost no sense of boundaries or shame."
As the feud between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively intensifies, it will be interesting to see how Taylor Swift's texts impact the proceedings. While the judge had previously denied Justin's legal team's request to depose Taylor in the late request for an extension, he marked their lack of diligence. Will things change now? Probably not, but things have definitely gotten more interesting.
