Taylor Frankie Paul faces renewed controversy as police investigate a third alleged domestic violence case involving her ex, Dakota Mortensen, intensifying scrutiny on the pair.
The discussion around The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives alum Taylor Frankie Paul shows no signs of dying down anytime soon. Ghosts of the past are catching up to the 31-year-old reality star, leading to ABC's cancellation of Season 22 of The Bachelorette just days before its premiere. After disturbing videos with Taylor's ex-partner, Dakota Mortensen, from 2023 resurfaced on the internet, another new video has found its way into the controversy, marking what appears to be the third such case tied to the former couple. Police have confirmed an active domestic violence investigation involving Paul and Mortensen.
According to recent information from the West Jordan Police Department, Dakota Mortensen has submitted a new video capturing an alleged domestic abuse case with his ex-partner, Taylor Frankie Paul. The video is believed to be from early to mid-2024, and reportedly captures an alleged domestic dispute between the former couple. The authorities have not publicly released the footage yet, and it is now being reviewed as part of the ongoing case. Authorities confirmed that Mortensen first contacted police in late February 2026, and officials are still trying to schedule an interview with Taylor.
The MomTok star has had a turbulent past marked by a high-profile divorce, scandalous affairs, and an on-and-off romance with Dakota Mortensen that even landed her in legal trouble. Earlier this month, a disturbing video made the rounds online where Taylor and Mortensen were seen being involved in a heated altercation that escalated into a physical confrontation.
The incident, which later led to Taylor's 2023 arrest, captured her throwing a stool at Mortensen, that too, in the presence of her daughter, Indy, who could be heard crying in the background. Mortensen, speaking after that video’s release, described the situation as “deeply upsetting,” adding that his main concern now lies in protecting his son, Ever, whom he shares with Taylor.
The newly submitted video has further complicated the ongoing investigation, coming weeks after a separate domestic assault investigation started in Draper, Utah, where the Draper City Police Department mentioned that both parties had made allegations. The department's communication director told PEOPLE on March 25, 2026, that both Dakota and Taylor "are still involved in the review at this stage".
In the second video obtained by TMZ, a police bodycam footage from 2023, both Taylor and Dakota can be heard yelling at each other before the MomTok star opened the door of her Utah home. When Taylor bursts out crying, Mortensen appears to defend her, while also mentioning that he is hurt. He can be heard saying:
"She's struggling. She's going through a lot. I can't even tell you any of the stuff that just happened. I think my finger's broken, dude."
Another spokesperson for the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office told the publication that the officials obtained materials from the police a few days ago to review the latest allegations and determine whether the charges are warranted. Meanwhile, neither Taylor nor her attorney has responded to the third domestic assault charges pressed against her.
The videos have taken a toll on the franchise, with ABC having to pull the plug on what would have been one of the most anticipated seasons of The Bachelorette. None of the Season 22 cast reportedly wants anything to do with the Mormon Wives alum, and the situation has created significant losses for the franchise. However, TMZ says Taylor may take home her reported six-figure salary from the show in full despite the cancellation.
