Fans might already be aware by now that The Bachelorette Season 22, which was supposed to feature Taylor Frankie Paul as the new Bachelorette, has been cancelled. While the show was initially scheduled to air from March 22, 2026, ABC cancelled it for good after a video surfaced showing Taylor throwing chairs at her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen. To mention, before the clip was published by TMZ on March 19, 2026, it had already been revealed that Taylor was in the middle of a domestic violence investigation involving Dakota. Amid this, will we see Taylor's rumoured final pick on The Bachelorette Season 22, Doug Mason as the next Bachelor?
Ever since ABC cancelled their much-anticipated dating series, The Bachelorette Season 22, fans have been wondering if and when a new season of The Bachelor will air. Although the network has not confirmed it so far, many think that Doug Mason could be the next Bachelor. For those unaware, Doug is rumoured to be the final pick of Taylor Frankie Paul in the now-axed season of The Bachelorette.
The same was revealed by Bachelor Nation spoiler sleuth, Reality Steve, who even claimed that the duo got engaged at the end of the season. Now, interestingly, on March 21, 2026, the Bachelor fan account, Scoop, posted an Instagram Story featuring a comment from a Bachelorette fan. The comment read, “Doug Mason for Bachelor.” What caught the user's attention was not the comment in particular but Doug's surprising reply to it, where he responded with “Let's goooo.”
Even before this, many fans had already taken to Doug's Instagram page to advocate for his run as the next Bachelor. For instance, on March 14, 2026, a user commented on one of his posts, “Doug for the next Bachelor!!!!,” followed by a red heart and rose emoji. Another fan wrote on a promotional photo from The Bachelorette Season 22 that Doug shared on February 24, 2026, “I don't think this aged well…but hoping you're the next BACHELOR!!”
Before things started to go south for Taylor Frankie Paul, it seemed like she had found her Prince Charming in Doug Mason on The Bachelorette Season 22. However, their fairytale did not last for long. According to Reality Steve, Taylor and Doug have already broken up since the filming of The Bachelorette wrapped up. Reality Steve claimed that Taylor would be lying to herself if she thought that anything but her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen, was the reason behind her and Doug's breakup. However, in the same report, they clarified that Taylor was not back with Dakota either. It stated:
"Since filming ended, Taylor and Doug have broken up. And yes, it’s because of Dakota. Doug flew to Utah about a month after the engagement (in January, I'm told), and Taylor ended it. (If Taylor) says it’s anything other than Dakota, she’s not being honest with herself or the audience. So any TikToks or teases she does on social media is just to promote her season. She is not with Doug anymore. Nor is she with Dakota. She just can’t seem to move on from him."
