Dharmendra passed away weeks before his 90th birthday, leaving the entire country heartbroken. However, celebrating his father, actor, Sunny Deol, has shared a loving post in his memory.
Today, December 8, 2025, would have marked the 90th birthday of 'He-Man', Dharmendra. The much-loved actor spent most of his life entertaining the country on the silver screen. However, unfortunately, he passed away a fortnight before the big milestone, leaving the entire nation heartbroken. The actor's demise has been hard on the Deol family, as they are still processing the major loss. Nonetheless, Dharmendra's eldest son, Sunny Deol, has marked his birthday with a loving post for his beloved 'Papa'.
Sunny Deol took to his Instagram handle on the morning of December 8, 2025, and shared a short video of Dharamendra. The Yamla Pagla Deewana actor looked completely mesmerised by the beautiful scenery before him. Dressed in a blue pullover and a black hat, the relaxed, unguarded expression was evident on Dharmendra's face. The video soon echoed with Sunny's voice asking the actor, "So, Papa, enjoying?" to which Dharmendra glanced at Sunny for a minute, his hearty laugh filling the silence of the serene view, as he responded, admitting that he indeed was. He was quoted as saying:
"I am really enjoying my son, its lovely"
Further in the video, we hear Sunny Deol once again as he gives us a glimpse of the view that enchanted Dharmendra. The lush mountains are tainted by the blues and greys of the clouds. Sunny could he heard saying, "So beautiful", as the video comes to an end. The actor penned a heartfelt note along with the post. He noted that it was his father's birthday. Sunny expressed his love and longing for his father as he stated:
"Aaj mere Papa ka janamdin hai. Papa mere saath hai, mere andar hai, love you papa. Miss you."

Dharmendra's younger brother, Ajit Singh Deol's son, Abhay Deol, also pays tribute to the actor with a loving post. Abhay also took to his Instagram handle and shared a heartfelt post for Dharmendra's 90th birthday. He shared a picture of himself as a little boy and young Dharmendra looking at a distance. Abhay explained the picture in the caption, sharing that he was upset because he had just been scolded.
However, Dharmendra noticed and called him over and asked him to "look at the light", and asked the photographer to click the picture. He added how he looks forward to hearing those words again and stated:
"Must've been 1985 or ‘86. I had just been scolded so I was upset. He called me to him, sat me down by his side and said, “look at the light”, and had the photographer click this pic.I look forward to the moment I hear him say those words to me again, when my time comes. Today was his birthday."
Dharmendra passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025, exactly a fortnight before his 90th birthday. The actor had been in the hospital earlier in November 2025. However, around halfway through the month, news broke that the actor was stable and would be discharged. Nonetheless, over a week later, the actor passed away at his home. Despite his decades-long legacy, Dharmendra's last rites were kept extremely private with only family and some of the closest industry friends present at the funeral.
