The highly anticipated 'Stranger Things' Season 5 Volume 1 is here. Check out if any of your favourite characters were killed off in the show.
Stranger Things Season 5 had pulled the curtains on the story of the residents of Hawkins and their fight for survival against otherworldly forces with the premiere of Volume 1. The latest season, which will also be the last, has generated a lot of anticipation among fans of the show. However, there is also a dread among viewers, wondering which of their favourite characters will be killed off in the end. So, here are spoilers on which of the on-screen Hawkins residents died in Season 5's Volume 1.
One of the first deaths that takes place in Stranger Things Season 5 is that of an unnamed scientist working at 'Dr. Kay's Lab. He dies in a friendly fire as his own military colleagues shoot at him. 'Hopper' places the scientist inside a cabinet. However, the soldiers mistake their own colleague for 'Hopper' and fire at the cabinet, killing him. Many other military members also fall casualty to an attack by 'Demogorgons' when the portal to the Upside Down opens up.
Apart from these unnamed characters, two important roles might have been killed off. However, their deaths weren't clearly shown. 'Lt. Robert Akers' is likely dead in Volume 1. 'Akers' gets out alive despite running into 'Hopper' and 'Eleven'. However, after he alerts 'Dr. Kay' about their intrusion he is seen caught in a fire. 'Lt. Colonel Jack Sullivan' also might have perished in a fire. He was the one who led the soldiers against fighting the 'Demogorgons'. However, 'Sullivan' gets caught in a huge blast by 'Vecna'. He is shown screaming as the flames engulf him, but whether he is one hundred percent dead or not, or just badly burnt, hasn't been shown yet.
'Jim Hopper', played by David Harbour, is the Chief of Police of the town of Hawkins. He is also one of the show's main characters, who discovered most of the mysteries surrounding the town. As a result, 'Hopper' has been in a lot of dangerous situations but managed to survive each time. However, viewers have been speculating if the story of Hawkins will end with 'Hopper' sacrificing his life. This could be a possibility, since 'Jim Hopper' has been portrayed as a sort of father figure to the town's children, especially 'Eleven'. However, as of Volume 1 of Season 5, he is alive.
People have still not recovered from the devastating death of 'Eddie Munson' shown in Stranger Things Season 4. Amid this, the makers of the show, Matt and Ross Duffer, shared with The Times that Season 5 will have the most violent death of any season. Hence, in Volume 1, none of the main cast has been killed. However, fans should be ready with their tissues when Volume 2 drops. The creators said:
"I would say season 5 is not as violent as season 4, but it has the most violent death of any season..Every character’s ending needed to feel right. That was more important than providing the fans with the ending they’re hoping for."
