According to PEOPLE, Stephen Colbert has revealed that stepping away from the show will actually allow him to put his focus on some other aspects of his life. He said that it takes a lot to do an everyday show, and now that he is stepping away, it would give him enough time to look into other things in his life. He said:
"It takes a lot of bone marrow to do the show every day, and now I’ll be stepping down with enough time, enough energy to do other things that I want to do."
While this is what he said, he also often hinted at the fact that he wouldn't be leaving the glamour world soon and would seemingly keep his creative self open. During an April 23 broadcast, Stephen shared that there had been a whole lot of rumours around him and his future. He said to have things like he would move to CNN or announce a massive wildlife rescue project. He further joked that he would be the president of the US. Well, he hinted that he could take part in another screen project, as he said to The Hollywood Reporter, 'got to stay in front of the lens, baby', but nothing is officially announced yet.
Some reports also linked Colbert to a project of The Lord Of The Rings, a franchise, of which he has always been a fan. Reportedly, he might collaborate with filmmaker Peter Jackson and writer, Philippa Boyens for a project named The Lord of the Rings: Shadow of the Past. However, nothing is confirmed as of now, and no announcement has been made about the same, just yet.
For now, Stephen Colbert is focused on her personal life mostly, and he will soon go to Washington D.C. to attend his brother's wedding. Following this, he would celebrate his son's graduation ceremony. So, for his next plans, he doesn't have himself to focus on, but rather he would shift his focus to his family.
