Sophie Turner recently shared how she felt being a part of the famous Jonas family. She talked about how the Jonas Brothers' wives were always tagged as their 'plus ones'.
Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas parted ways on ‘amicable’ terms in September 2023. Still, the British actress faced immense mom shame and misogyny. Nearly eight months after her highly publicised divorce from the Jonas Brothers member, Sophie has finally spoken about her married life with Joe and what it was like being a part of the Jonas family.
In a recent interview with British Vogue, Sophie recalled the time when she became a part of the famous Jonas family. For those who don’t know, Sophie and Joe tied the knot not once but twice in 2019. The first one was in Las Vegas after attending the Billboard Music Awards, and the second one was held in France amidst the presence of their friends and family. Later, the two welcomed their first daughter, Willa, in 2020 and their second daughter, Delphine, in 2022.

While Sophie was whole-heartedly welcomed into the family, she hated that Danielle, Priyanka Chopra and herself were called ‘the wives’. The three women would often accompany their respective husbands, Kevin, Nick and Joe, on tour, and were seen as their ‘plus ones’ everywhere. Sharing that her estranged husband never made her feel that, Sophie added:
“There was a lot of attention on the three brothers, and the wives. Well, we were always called the wives, and I hated that. It was kind of this plus-one feeling. And that’s nothing to do with him – in no way did he make me feel that – it was just that the perception of us was as the groupies in the band.”
Danielle, Priyanka and Sophie featured in Jonas Brothers music video, Sucker, which also marked the reunion of the band. Following the release of the music video, the three women were often tagged as the ‘J sisters’ as they would often tour with their husbands.

In the same interview, Sophie shared how she first met Joe Jonas when she was just 20 years old. The British actress recalled that she took her brother to a bar in Camden to meet Joe as she wasn’t sure if the guy who DMed her was actually the American pop star. Talking about her first meeting, Sophie shared:
“Joe had just DM-ed me on Instagram. I brought my brother and all my guy friends because I didn’t know if I was maybe getting catfished.”
