Sonali Bendre, After Sharing Her New Look In A Wig, Confidently Flaunts Her Bald Look With A Smile

With the support of her husband, son, family, friends and most importantly her inner strength, Sonali Bendre is fighting the toughest battle of her life. In July 2018, Sonali shared this heart-wrenching news on her social media handle and revealed that she has been diagnosed with high-grade cancer that has metastasized. As a result of chemotherapy, Sonali went bald and decided to wear a wig whenever she feels like. In a September 5, 2018 post, Sonali shared a video collage of her pictures sporting her wig look, and now she posted another picture of herself flaunting her bald look with full confidence and grace. Sonali can be seen holding the book on the ‘Read A Book’ day.

The Hum Saath Saath Hain actress captioned it, “Today is #ReadABookDay and what better way to celebrate it than by announcing the next book for #SBC! This one is a historical fiction set in Russia called "A Gentleman in Moscow" by @amortowles. The premise sounds pretty interesting, and I can't wait to start reading it! #SonalisBookClub”.

The post that Sonali shared sporting her wig look, she thanked Priyanka Chopra for connecting her to Bok-Hee, who created Sonali’s new look. She captioned the video as, “"Vanity is my favourite sin." - Al Pacino. Well, it might not be my all-time favourite sin (that would be gluttony), but who doesn't like looking good? The way we look has a profound psychological impact on us... A little vanity here and there does no one any harm. It's important to do what makes you happy, even if it's something as simple as wearing a wig, bright red lipstick, high heels.... All that white noise doesn't make a difference in the larger picture. No one can tell you what's right or wrong for you.”

Her post could be further read as, “When I was testing out the wigs, I had a brief moment of self-doubt... "Am I vain for wanting to look good?" As part of the entertainment industry, you're always expected to look good... Maybe that has been ingrained in me? But then I gave it a thought and I realized I like looking good for me. If I'm in the mood to wear a scarf, I will. If I want to walk around bald and free, I will. Only you know what would make you feel good, and what works best for you. When Sonali chopped her long hair short, while she was in New York for her cancer treatment, she shared the reaction of her hubby, Goldie Behl through a video. She captioned it, “In the words of my favourite author Isabel Allende, “We don't even know how strong we are until we are forced to bring that hidden strength forward. In times of tragedy, of war, of necessity, people do amazing things. The human capacity for survival and renewal is awesome.”The outpouring of love I’ve received in the last few days has been so overwhelming… and I’m especially grateful to those of you who shared stories of your experiences in dealing with cancer, whether it was your own or of loved ones. Your stories have given me an extra dosage of strength and courage, and more importantly, the knowledge that I’m not alone.”

The Major Saab actress went on to say, “Each day comes with its own challenges and victories and so for now, I’m taking this #OneDayAtATime. The only thing I’m trying to be consistent about is maintaining a positive outlook... literally #SwitchOnTheSunshine - it’s my way of dealing with this.
