The web series, which has a stellar cast including Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal, Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Sanjeeda Sheikh, marked Sanjay's OTT debut as a filmmaker. However, the filmmaker was massively slammed for promoting his niece, Sharmin in the web series, as the latter failed to impress the audience with her acting spree.
Recently, a Reddit user shared a video featuring Sharmin Segal, Sonakshi Sinha, and Aditi Rao Hydari on the discussion platform. The trio was seen sitting on a couch for an interview, and Sharmin was enacting one of her dialogues from the web series, Heeramandi. While Sharmin tried to impress everyone with her acting spree, it was Sonakshi and Aditi's expressions that caught our attention. The duo was finding it hard to control their laughter, and their reactions left everyone going ROFL.

In the last week of April 2024, Sanjay Leela Bhansali hosted a special premiere night for his much-awaited project, and in one of the videos, the entire cast of Heeramandi was seen posing for the paps at the event. The filmmaker was standing in the middle next to his niece, Sharmin Segal, and Richa Chadha came to greet him. However, as soon as Sanjay and Richa greeted each other, the filmmaker was seen moving the latter aside. Not just this, he also dragged Sharmin closer to him in the center, and while doing that, the filmmaker also planted a peck on her cheek.

The video went viral on the internet in no time, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Sharmin received massive backlash for it. A user commented, "I think Sharmin did move to the other side to let Richa stand with SLB, but he pulled her towards the centre, making the whole situation awkward."
