In an interview, Shraddha Arya talked about her first meeting with her husband, Rahul Nagal, how love blossomed between them, their sudden marriage, long-distance wedding, and no honeymoon.
Shraddha Arya, who plays the character of ‘Preeta’ in the TV serial, Kundali Bhagya is back to work after her wedding with a Navy officer, Rahul Nagal, on November 16, 2021. For the longest time, Shraddha had kept the identity of her husband hidden, and it was only at their wedding that we had got the first glimpses of Rahul. In the world of social media, Shraddha had perfectly managed to hide her relationship with Rahul, and it was her chat mangni, pat vyaah that had shocked the nation.
On November 17, 2021, Shraddha Arya had taken to her IG handle to share a series of pictures with her husband, Rahul Nagal, from their wedding. They had looked absolutely gorgeous in their shaadi ka jodas. Sharing her wedding pictures, Shraddha had written:
In an interview with The Times Of India, Shraddha Arya, for the first time, talked about her relationship with Rahul Nagal and their sudden wedding. When asked if their marriage was planned in advance or if it was a sudden one, Shraddha shared that they had decided about their wedding just a month ago. She shared:
“We decided to get married just last month. I had no idea I would tie the knot so soon. I was dating Commander Rahul Nagal for almost a year but we had not thought of marriage. I also believe in being discreet and not talking about my personal life, till something concrete is happening.”
Sharing how she had met Rahul for the first time and how love had bloomed between them, Shraddha said:
“We met a year ago through common friends and hit it off well. At that time, he was based in Mumbai but we used to meet each other occasionally because we both had hectic schedules. But we realised that this was more than friendship when he was later posted in another city. The long-distance made us realise what we felt for each other. That’s when we decided to take our relationship to the next level.”
When asked if Rahul had proposed to her for the wedding in a romantic manner, and when they had decided to get married, Shraddha replied:
“Rahul is a very mature and responsible person and so he spoke to his parents about me. Rahul’s father is a retired colonel. His parents, who are based in Delhi, met my parents and we both agreed to get married soon. It was a quick wedding because everything fell into place in a short period of time and there was no reason to wait. We got engaged on November 13 and then the wedding followed on November 16.”
Talking about what she loved the most about her husband, Rahul, Shraddha mentioned that his simplicity had made her fall in love with him. She mentioned:
“My husband has a deep regard and respect for the woman in his life. What struck me the most about him was his simplicity and chivalrous conduct. Also, I could clearly tell from his words and gestures that he wants a life partner not just so that his house is looked after but to have her by his side at every in his life.”
Talking about if the long-distance wedding is going to be tough for them as she will be in Mumbai and Rahul will be in another city, Shraddha shared:
“Between the two of us, I am the weaker one and if given an opportunity, I would run to him and spend quality time with him. But I love the fact that for my husband, country comes first and he has to attend to his work. At the same time, he also understands my work commitments and respects that. So, till my show is on, I will take these short holidays to visit him and once the show is over, we will mutually decide how to take this forward because I would love to be with him. Also, I feel every woman knows that when she marries a man, who is working for the country – like the armed forces or Indian Navy, he keeps getting posted at different places and there can be situations when you have to stay away from each other. I will always support him in his work.”
When asked if the feeling of being married has sunk in for her, Shraddha talked about how the first few days of her married life were different and how it feels that nothing has changed much now. She shared:
“I just finished with the pag phera ceremony and making halwa ritual in Delhi and I was overwhelmed with the way his family treated me. It reminded me every second that I am a happily married woman. But, now that I am back in Mumbai and resumed work, I feel that nothing much has changed except the fact that marriage has added some more dollops of happiness to my life. My wedding was a beautiful event and my sister Divya and friend Neha Adhvik Mahajan helped me a lot with my clothes and styling.”
Shraddha also mentioned that she and Rahul wanted to go to Europe for their honeymoon, however, owing to their work and travel restrictions due to the pandemic, they have not decided on it yet. She concluded:
“My husband will need approvals and permission before we can plan a trip. We had both wanted to go to Europe but it doesn’t seem possible because there are restrictions imposed in many countries right now due to the pandemic. So, as of now, we haven’t decided on a destination. But I must say that I am happy and look forward to this new chapter in my life.”
On the professional front, Shraddha Arya has been a part of Kundali Bhagya since 2017.
