She expressed gratitude towards him for being a mom of two kids.

However, even post the breakup, Shakira expressed gratitude towards Gerard for the family they created and the life they had established together.
Shakira mentioned in the interview that she will always have that gratitude in her heart for the father of her kids. Shakira credited her relationship with Gerard for making her the mother she is today. She had spoken on the profound impact the separation from Gerard had on her. The ex-couple was together for more than a decade and had two sons. It was in 2022 that the duo split after being away from the public limelight.
Shakira had pondered over the emotional aftermath when she separated from Gerard Pique. She had called the separation the darkest moment since there was the dissolution of their family. The ex-couple was together from 201o to 2022 and have two kids- Mian, 13 and Sasha, aged 11. Shakira was nursing her heartbreak and also looking after her dad, who had suffered a fall. It was a difficult chapter in her life and Shakira said:
“I’ve been through so much pain, but it has made me perhaps in an unforeseen way a wiser person—or stronger, at least. They say that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and it is true. It’s amazing to learn that humans have a resilience that we can resort to at any moment in our lives.”
The Hips Don't Lie singer revealed that hardships had changed her perspective towards. Shakira then shared that sometimes, through hardships and through pain, is how we discover how strong we can be. Suffering sometimes makes you a better person, makes you value friends and support. The singer shared that life can sometimes be a bitch but it is also beautiful and made of light and shadows. Shakiura continued:
"So I thank life for every single moment, the bright ones and the dark ones, the people who have made me suffer because they have become my masters who have taught me lessons, very valuable lessons."
Well, Shakira and Gerard's breakup had been one of the most talked about things in the recent times. The ex-pair had met back during the 2010 FIFA World Cup when shooting for the music video, Waka Waka This Time For Africa.Shakira, in the interview, had also revealed that she is in that stage of her life where her focus has been her kids and career. She has no time or space for romance and her statement comes at the time, when her relationship with Gerard, once upon a time was one of the most talked-about things in the town. Speaking about not finding love again, Shakira had said:
"There’s no space or time in my life for that. My plate is quite full."
