The famous BBC Radio presenter, Scott Mills ended his nearly three-decade career on March 30, 2026. As per reports, the BBC ended its contract with him after a complaint regarding his personal conduct surfaced. However, the company refused to share any details about the matter to protect the individual's privacy.
Scott Mills started his journey with the BBC in 1998 with his famous show, The Scott Mills Show on Radio 1. The show ran for over 20 years, making it the longest-running show on the radio. Then in 2022, he transitioned from Radio 1 to Radio 2 in 2022. It was in 2025 that Scott got the slot of flagship Breakfast Show, which is the UK's most-loved radio show. As per reports, Scott Mills has earned between 315,000 pounds and 360,000 pounds during the peaks of his career.
On March 24, 2026, Scott Mills' last show, the Scott Mills Breakfast Show, aired on Radio 2. However, the show had a lot of 'oops' moments. And at one point during the broadcast, he hinted that he might be leaving the show. He was heard saying how he was mixing everything, and he should go and try again 'tomorrow;. But who knew that the 'tomorrow' never came. He was quoted as saying:
"I'm getting everything mixed up today. I should probably go, I'll try again tomorrow."
Everyone at the BBC is in shock at the news of Scott Mills' firing. Director of Music Lorna Clarke sent a shocking email to Scott's colleagues, informing them that he won't be returning to work. She personally announced the news and shared how it came as a sudden and unexpected surprise. A part of the email can be read as :
"I wanted to personally let you know that Scott Mills has left the Breakfast show, and the BBC. I know that this news will be sudden and unexpected, and therefore must come as a shock. Not least as so many of us have worked with Scott over a great many years, across a broad range of our programmes on R1, 5Live, R2 and TV. I felt it was important to share this news with you at the earliest opportunity. Of course, it will also come as a shock to our audience and loyal breakfast show listeners too. I will update everyone with more information on plans for the show when I’m able to. While I appreciate many of you will have questions, I hope you can understand that I am not going to be saying anything further now."
Talking about the firing, as per reports, Scott Mills had to leave the show after a complaint about his behaviour and personal conduct was registered. However, no information about these allegation have been made public. The sources further stated that senior BBC management has informed the staff with an internal statement. The decision came as a shock to many who have been associated with Scott Mills for many years. The BBC statement can be read as:
"While we do not comment on matters relating to individuals, we can confirm Scott Mills is no longer contracted and has left the BBC."
