The famous British Radio presenter and television personality, Scott Mills, has been facing the toughest time. For the unversed, the 53-year-old has been known for his longest-running shows on BBC Radio 1. He would often entertain the audience with his humour and witty take on life. Later, he moved to BBC Radio 2 and worked hard in his broadcasting career, but the sudden statement by the BBC over his firing has left many confused.
Scott Mills is the most notable voice of BBC Radio 2, but on March 30, 2026, he was fired from the company. According to multiple reports, allegations of his personal conduct have led to the decision. The BBC further shared an official statement confirming that Scott Mills is no longer working with them. However, they further denied sharing the reason for it and stated that it was against their policy to comment on an individual employee's matters. The statement can be read as:
"While we do not comment on matters relating to individuals, we can confirm Scott Mills is no longer contracted and has left the BBC."
As per reports, Scott Mills got fired after a complaint about his behaviour and personal conduct was registered. However, no information about these allegation have been made public. The sources further stated that senior BBC management has informed the staff with an internal statement. The decision came as a shock to many who have been associated with Scott Mills for many years.
Lorna Clarke, the Director of Music, shared a statement with their staff about Scott Mills firing. She stated that Scott Mills has left the Breakfast show and the BBC. She added that the news is sudden and unexpected, as many of them had worked with him for so many years. The statement can be read as:
"I wanted to personally let you know that Scott Mills has left the Breakfast show, and the BBC. I know that this news will be sudden and unexpected and therefore must come as a shock. Not least as so many of us have worked with Scott over a great many years, across a broad range of our programmes on R1, 5Live, R2 and TV. I felt it was important to share this news with you at the earliest opportunity."
It is worth noting that Scott Mills' last show was broadcast on March 24, 2026. But no one had any idea that he would be fired from the show within days. The lack of transparency around his departure from the show and the BBC has left many to speculate on the matter. But BBC continues to maintain confidentiality around the decision to protect the company's honour and individual privacy.
For the unversed, Scott Mills started his journey with the Radio 2 Breakfast Show in 2025. He had replaced Zoe Ball and gained millions of listeners across the UK within a short time span. The breakfast show is one of the most loved slots in British Radio and has been a fan favourite with over 6 million weekly listeners.
Strangely, Scott Mills got fired from his long association with the BBC within a year after stepping into the new role. He was associated with the BBC for nearly three decades. In 1988, he joined BBC Radio 1 and left his mark with his super-hit show, The Scott Mills Show. It ran for 18 years, which is the longest-running show. After this, he shifted to Radio 2 in 2022.
