Today Show's host, Savannah Guthrie has been dealing with a tough time, as her mom, Nancy Guthrie has been missing. It was on January 31, 2026, when she was last seen at her home, and following this, there has been no update about her. Police believed that she was abducted, and amid this, a ransom note, demanding millions of dollars in Bitcoin, was shared with TMZ. After the investigation, a Southern California man was arrested, and now, another new message was received by News 13, which has been shared with law enforcement, and the case also involves the FBI. Recently, Tucson-based KOLD News or News 13 received a new message in Nancy Guthrie's missing case. The publication didn't release any further details, keeping the family's privacy in check. Well, the message has been shared with law enforcement with the former note's IP address.
News 13 further shared that while the recent IP address is not the same as the last note's IP address, they feel that this time, an encrypted server has been used to hide the IP address, an attempt that was also made for the previous note. To mention, the FBI has also been working on this investigation, and a reward of USD 50K has been announced if anyone has tips about it. A statement could be read as:
"While this is one new piece of information, the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department are still asking anyone with tips to contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI. The FBI continues to offer a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the recovery of Nancy Guthrie and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance."
On the other hand, the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the authenticity of the new message they received. According to a statement from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, the roadway in front of Nancy Guthrie's home has been restricted while further investigation continues, and investigators will conduct a follow-up check at the Guthries' home. To mention, it was only a day ago, when a trail of blood was found on the front step of Nancy's home, and it was confirmed by the authorities that it was the author's blood.
In an interview with PEOPLE, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos revealed that he has been in contact with Savannah Guthrie, through texts and calls, while the FBI and other detectives have been in talks with the Today Show's host. As per the sheriff, over 100 people have been working on Nancy Guthrie's missing case. He, earlier in a press conference on February 5, 2026, said that no prime suspect has been identified in this case. He revealed to people that 5-10 agencies and more than 100 people have been involved in this case. As per the sheriff:
"It's not just my department, and my department probably has 100 in themselves. You do have at least, probably five to 10 agencies within this jurisdictional area of Pima County, as well as the FBI and others, that are assigned and helping. I don't have an [exact] number, but I know it's over 100."
Savannah Guthrie and her siblings, Annie and Camron, released a video after the ransom note was shared on TMZ, demanding millions of dollars in Bitcoin. The Guthrie family pleaded with the sender of the note to provide them with proper proof that their mother was with him and fine, as nothing could be believed in a world where photos and audio are easily manipulated. Savannah also said that her mom's health condition was not fine and her heart was in a fragile state, and that she needs medication on a daily basis. However, it's a matter of concern that Nancy has been without any medication since the time she was missing. On the other hand, the investigators believe that she's alive.
