Savannah Guthrie's life has been halted ever since her mother, Nancy Guthrie, went missing. While initially they were not sure where she was, later details confirmed that she was kidnapped and her abductor asked for a huge ransom and gave a deadline with a threat. Now, as the deadline is over, her millions of followers are wondering if the family agreed to pay ransom for the safe return of their mother. Here's what we know.

Savannah Guthrie paid ransom to her mother's abductor?

The search for the 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie is in its ninth day, and so far, there has been no luck in finding out about her whereabouts. However, the final deadline to pay the ransom money was set for 5 p.m. on February 9, 2026, and has also passed. While the investigation is still ongoing, there is no suspect in the matter. As the deadline to pay ransom has passed. The abductor had asked to deliver the money in cryptocurrency to a specific Bitcoin address.

Talking about the bitcoin account, it was set up to accept the money in exchange for Nancy Gurthrie and is empty and has a balance of USD 0 and zero transactions, as per the New York Post. It is worth noting that support.bitcoin.com: these transactions take more time to appear in the account. Sometimes it is less than an hour, another is under 30 minutes, and the fastest one takes about 0-20 minutes.

Savannah Guthrie shared a new video revealing how her mother is still out there

Savannah shared another video on her Instagram handle and revealed how they have entered another horrific week with the search to find her mother. She stated that their family was at an 'hour of desperation'. Savannah shared that her family believes that Nancy is feeling everyone's prayers in these times of struggle. And that she is still out there,e and hence, they need everyone's help. She added that law enforcement is working around the clock, and she doesn't know where she has been taken. Savannah urged people to come forward and share information about her. She said:

"If you see anything, you hear anything, if there's anything at all that seems strange to you, that you report to law enforcement, we are at an hour of desperation. And we need your help."

Savannah's elder sister, Annie, was dragged into the matter related to Nancy's disappearance

Savannah Guthrie's mother, Nancy Guthrie, has taken a new turn. On February 8, 2026, People magazine revealed that the law enforcement team searched Savannah's sister, Annie Guthrie's home. As per reports, officers searched her property, which is just four miles away from Nancy's place, where she was last seen at 9:48 p.m. on January 31, 2026.

Cops were spotted outside Annie Guthrie and her husband, Tommaso Cioni's home at night. This development came when the Guthrie siblings released a video pleading with the abductors to bring her home. The Pima County Sheriff's Department took to X and gave an update on the matter. They confirmed that so far, no suspects, persons of interest, or vehicles have been identified. It can be read as:

"The Nancy Guthrie investigation is ongoing. Follow-up continues at multiple locations. No suspects, persons of interest, or vehicles have been identified. No scheduled press briefings. If any significant developments occur in the case, a press conference will be called."

The police further requested that people not come up to Nancy Guthrie's home, and security will be deployed at Nancy's residence. Also, they stated that no trespassing has been allowed on the Guthrie's propery. The statement can be read as:

"At the request of the Guthrie family, PCSD will maintain a presence at Nancy Guthrie’s residence for security. Media & the public are reminded to follow all traffic & private property laws. No trespassing is allowed on the Guthrie property.  Violations are subject to enforcement."

It is worth mentioning that Annie Guthrie's house search came after a NewsNation reporter stated that Annie's husband, Tommaso Cioni, could be one of the suspects in the matter. However, the officials have not named any suspect. But after Annie's home has been searched, it adds new doubts to the matter.
