In a recent interview, Savannah Guthrie's husband, Michel Feldman, reacted to his mother-in-law's disappearance.
Savannah Guthrie, the renowned journalist and the co-host of the Today show, is hogging the limelight for all things personal. For the unversed, Savannah’s 84-year-old mom, Nancy Guthrie, has gone missing. She was last seen in the evening of January 31, 2026, at her residence near East Skyline Drive and North Campbell Avenue. Savannah is closely attached to her mom and often shares how her mom plays a key role in her life. In a recent interview, Savannah’s husband, Michael Feldman, reacted to the following.
In a recent interview with Page Six, Savannah Guthrie’s husband, Michael Feldman, reacted to his mother-in-law, Nancy’s disappearance. On February 3, 2026, he shared that he doesn’t have anything new to report about Nancy’s disappearance. Amid the desperate search, Michael mentioned that he feels unhelpful and just being responsive. He appreciated the media’s thoughtfulness regarding Nancy’s disappearance. Pima County Sheriff’s Department, which launched an urgent search in Nancy's Arizona home, believe that the 84-year-old might have been abducted.
For the uninitiated, Savannah’s mom, Nancy, lived alone in her house in the Catalina Foothills neighbourhood of Tucson, Ariz. According to Pima County Sheriff, Chris Nanos, the 84-year-old went out for dinner with her family, including her daughter, Annie Guthrie. Nancy was brought back to her home around 9:30 or 9:45 p.m on January 31, 2026. Sharing details about Nancy’s behaviour, Chris Nanos told US Weekly that her daughter, Annie, didn’t notice anything wrong. The next morning at 11, a parishioner at Nancy’s church called her family to let them know that she did not attend that morning’s service, which they found unusual.
The family then went to Nancy’s house and called 911. Nancy has health issues and faces difficulty walking. Her family shared that as a person, Nancy is "of great sound mind" and "sharp as a tack", so it’s absurd that she had gone missing all by herself. Nancy takes daily medication, and missing it can be dangerous. Pima County Sheriff, Chris Nanos, shared that Savannah, who has taken a break from broadcasting, did not raise any concern about her mom’s health before her disappearance.
Savannah was just 16 years old when she lost her dad. She was the youngest of three siblings. His dad suffered a heart attack at the age of 49. Since then, Nancy has become a pillar of strength for her family. Speaking about the same, Savannah said on Today in 2017:
"When my dad died, our family just hung onto each other for dear life because it was such a shock. We were just trying to figure out how to become a family of four when we’d always been a family of five."
Over the years, Savannah has been vocal and credited her mom for her selfless and unshakable mindset. In 2022, Savannah shared that her mom, Nancy, had faced unthinkable challenges in her life with grit, without self-pity, and with determination. Four years back, Savannah paid tribute to her mom on her 80th birthday. She mentioned that Nancy has always been a truth teller and lived a life full of integrity and loyalty. She was quoted as saying:
"She’s lived a life of integrity and loyalty. She’s a truth teller, whether you really want to hear the truth or not."
While the Guthrie family is going through a tough time, on February 3, 2026, Savannah took to her Instagram handle and shared a heartfelt note. In the note, she prayed for his mom’s safe return. She expressed gratitude to the people who stood by them in this tough time. She wrote:
"Thank you for lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy, a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant. Raise your prayers with us and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment. We need you."
