As per a former FBI agent, Savannah Guthrie's recent emotional interview about her missing mother, Nancy Guthrie, might have terrified the kidnapper.
It has been almost three months since The Today Show's host, Savannah Guthrie's mom, Nancy Guthrie, went missing from her home. Nancy was last seen on January 31, 2026, at her home, and since then, there has been no update on her. The investigation regarding the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie is still going on. After months of pleading for a clue in her mom’s disappearance, Savannah gave her first interview.
Savannah Guthrie recently sat for an interview with Hoda Kotb in which she spoke about her mother, Nancy’s kidnapping. After her emotional interview, Former FBI agent Jason Pack told Page Six that Savannah's emotional interview had come at the right moment when people’s attention was starting to drift. He also stated that the whole country has been praying for the family.
In the same interaction, Pack also revealed that the heart-wrenching interview of Savannah might have ‘terrified’ the kidnapper. Speaking about the same, he said:
“In my experience, suspects who have done something like this are usually terrified. They have been scared for two months. Every knock on the door. Every slow moving car. They are waiting on that one tip that leads law enforcement straight to their doorstep and finally tells the world what happened to Miss Nancy.”
Speaking to Page Six, Pack also stated that the interview was not a strategy, but rather a daughter’s cry for help. He also shared that Savannah’s interview clearly indicated she was not ready to hold back her feelings and let the world know what was going on inside her. She was ready to tell all and let the world know what grief looked like.
Post Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, Savannah gave her first interview with co-anchor Hoda Kotb and spoke about the agony she and her family underwent. She urged people to come forward and speak up, as it was unbearable for her to deal with. Savannah was seen sobbing in the middle of the interview as she said:
“Someone needs to do the right thing. We are in agony. We are in agony. It is unbearable. And to think of what she went through, I wake up every night, in the middle of the night, every night, and in the darkness, I imagine her terror and it is unthinkable. She needs to come home, now."
Earlier, the FBI released high-resolution surveillance photos and video clips from the ring camera footage from Guthrie's home. The footage revealed a potential suspect, a male with an average build and about 5 feet 9 inches tall. He was seen wearing a black, 25-litre ‘Ozark Trail Hiker Pack’ backpack. It was also reported that the masked person seen on the doorbell camera footage of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie’s home on the morning she is believed to have been kidnapped was also at her doorstep on another night. A source reveals that the man believed to be seen in the camera footage was seen roaming outside Nancy Guthrie’s home the night before her disappearance.
