In a recent interview with People, Sarah Michelle Gellar opened up about ageing as she nears 50. Sarah is currently 48. During the conversation, Sarah shared that she considers herself fortunate as she was never trapped in one role at one age. The All My Children fame mentioned that when she looks back at her career and goes through the throwback pictures, she considers her present look better. Recalling a moment, Sarah added that earlier she used to get bothered about aging but now her perspective has changed. She was quoted as saying:
"I've been so fortunate that I've never been trapped in one role at one age. I don't know how I got that lucky, but I'm proud of what I've done. I'm proud of who I am. I don't mind talking about a project from 15 to 20 years ago. I look at pictures of when I was younger, and I'm like, 'I think I look better now. I like myself more now.' There was a time in my life when it did affect me sometimes, and I'm like, 'Great, I don't look like that anymore.' And then you get to this place where you're like, 'Yeah, I don't want to look. I shouldn't look like that anymore.'"
There have been longtime rumours about Sarah Michelle Gellar going under the knife. In a recent interview with Women’s Health, the Buffy the Vampire Slayer star dismisses the widespread rumour surrounding her going under the knife. Sarah mentioned that after seeing the constant focus on plastic surgery, she found it extremely scary. One time, she also wondered whether she should have done it. However, in another interview with People, Sarah admitted that she uses Botox, but still can move her face. She called it "ageing with grace." She was quoted as saying:
"I’m seeing this constant focus on plastic surgery that’s incredibly scary. Girls in their twenties are now getting full facelifts and it's made me wonder, ‘Should I have gotten a facelift?’ But I don’t want that. I want to look like me."
In a 2019 interview with US Weekly, Sarah Michelle Gellar shared her skincare routine. Sarah mentioned that from an early age, she understood to take care of her skin. The 48-year-old actress highlighted that she doesn’t go to sleep with her makeup on. She stated that when she is filming, she washes her face at lunchtime. This makes her makeup look fresher when it’s redone. She was quoted as saying:
"From an early age, I’ve understood you have to take care of your skin. You know, don’t go to sleep with makeup on, cleanse and moisturise before bed. The second I get home, I wash my face. First, wipe to take off makeup, then use a cleanser. When I’m filming, I wash my face at lunchtime. I’ll leave my eye makeup on and let my face breathe. And when I get my makeup redone, it looks fresher."
