Three generations of Khans came together at Soha Ali Khan's podcast, which featured special guests Sharmila Tagore and Sara Ali Khan. The episode was nothing short of an insight into breaking gender stereotypes. While Sharmila Tagore has her own stories of being a famous heroine in a man's world, Soha Ali Khan grew up in a family where her father, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, was a stay-at-home dad. And then, Sara Ali Khan was raised by a single mother.

Sara Ali Khan shared her life story in a tell-all tale to her bua, Soha Ali Khan

Sara Ali Khan recently talked about struggles and the strength of womanhood. She revealed how she was raised by a single mother. For the unversed, Saif and Amrita divorced in 2004, and Sara was just nine years old. She and her younger brother were raised by Amrita Singh. This setup helped her see women from a different perspective, especially in society. Sara shared:

"For me, a strong woman is someone who doesn’t fear having a voice. Today, society has evolved and women have become more free, but I think it starts from within. Your ability to emancipate yourself, to stand for what you believe in, and to stand up for yourself—that’s strength."

Talking about her own upbringing, Sara thanked that she always had a voice, and she never had to shut herself down. At her home, she had the privilege to ask questions and give opinions. Sara revealed that being raised by a single mother shaped her opinions on geneder role. She said:

"You have to derive your own strength in a world where you’re aware that inequality exists. It’s not like mansplaining isn’t a thing or that we don’t live in a male-dominated world. Maybe we do—but it also depends on how seriously you take it. Women have a very important role to play in society. I grew up with a single mother, so the way I look at women is completely different."

Sara added that people think women are a softer gender, but she had seen her mother doing everything. She added that women are expected to be good cooks, but her mother is not one. She said:

"Maybe to some degree people think women are the softer gender and men are providers, but growing up, that wasn’t my reality. My mom was doing everything. That bifurcation doesn’t exist in my memory at all. My mom doesn’t do any job that’s ‘ideally’ associated with women—she’s a bad cook."
