Sanjeeda Shaikh shared an unheard anecdote about her look test for SLB's 'Heeramandi'. She added how she ultimately fell deep for the scar of 'Waheeda'.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's debut web series, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar has already created a stir on the internet. The series was released on the OTT giant, Netflix on May 1, 2024, and has been winning hearts. For those who don't know, the series is based on real-life events and features the lives of the tawaifs of the red-light area named 'Heera Mandi' in Lahore during India's independence movements against the British Raj. The cast of this series includes Sonakshi Sinha, Sharmin Segal, Farida Jalal, Shekhar Suman, Fardeen Khan, Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Richa Chadha, among others. While the series has been making headlines, Sanjeeda recently opened up about her look test and also revealed how she fell in love with her character 'Waheeda' in the web series.
In a recent interview with Instant Bollywood, Sanjeeda Shaikh was asked how she channelled her inner self and related to the character of 'Waheeda' in Heeramandi. For the unversed, in the series, we can see Sanjeeda carrying a big scar on her face. Talking about the same, the actress revealed that for 'Waheeda', that scar was the foundation of her character, which continued to remind her who she was, who she has become, and who she doesn't want to be. The actress shared that initially when the scar was made on her face, it was technical, but eventually, it became a part of herself, and she started enjoying the scar.

In the same interview, Sanjeeda Shaikh shared that she was so in love with the scar on her face that she even refused to go on the sets for rehearsal without it. Sanjeeda also added that during her look test, the scar was put on the forehead, and later, the makers decided to do it on her cheek, and the bigger the scar got, the happier she became.
For the unversed, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's web series, Heeramandi will have eight episodes. Talking about the same, in an interview, the prolific filmmaker added that this was the biggest project of his life. However, if the reports are to go by, Sanjeeda Shaikh was paid a whopping amount of Rs. 40 lakh for essaying the role of 'Waheeda'. The actress reportedly stated in an interview that each of the characters someone plays on screen is a part of themselves, and she also mixed a bit of 'Sanjeeda' in her role of 'Waheeda'.

For the uninitiated, Sanjeeda Shaikh's personal life has been a topic of discussion. The diva got married to her longtime beau, Aamir Ali, back in 2012. In 2020, the duo welcomed their baby girl, Arya Ali, via surrogacy. However, in the same year, the couple announced their separation, and in 2021, they were divorced. Cut to now, the actress has been speculated to be dating Harshvardhan Rane.
