Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been leading the headlines lately, and the credit goes to his latest magnum opus, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. The web series marked Sanjay's OTT debut as a filmmaker. The stellar cast of Heeramandi includes Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal, Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari and Sanjeeda Sheikh in lead roles. The film also features male actors like Shekhar Suman, Fardeen Khan, Taha Shah Badussa and Adhyayan Suman.
For the unversed, Heeramandi narrates the tales of courtesans, who were treated like queens in the area of ‘Heera Mandi’ in Lahore. The web series received immense appreciation ever since its release on Netflix. In the last week of April 2024, Sanjay Leela Bhansali hosted a special premiere night for his much-awaited project, and many videos from the same have surfaced online. However, one such video has been making headlines, albeit for all the wrong reasons.

The video showed the entire cast of Heeramandi posing for the paps at the event. The filmmaker, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, was standing in the middle next to his niece, Sharmin Segal, and Richa Chadha came to greet him. However, as soon as Sanjay and Richa greeted each other, the filmmaker was seen moving the latter aside. Not just this, he also dragged Sharmin closer to him in the centre, and while doing that, the filmmaker also planted a peck on her cheek.
The video is now going viral on the internet, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Sharmin have been receiving massive backlash. A user commented, "I think Sharmin did move to the other side to let Richa stand with SLB, but he pulled her towards the centre, making the whole situation awkward." Another penned, "Hope SLB knows putting her centre stage in relation to Heera Mandi will only hurt her."

The viral video showed Rekha and Richa Chadha having a candid moment with each other. They indulged in a hearty conversation and were also seen laughing out loud. However, the most eye-catching moment was when Rekha kissed Richa's baby bump, leaving the latter overwhelmed. The veteran actress blessed Richa and her baby and showered her with love.
