The news of his sudden death was confirmed by his sister, Melissa De Nino, leaving many fans heartbroken. In his personal life, Ryan was briefly married to Jessica Castro. The duo had a tumultuous relationship, with Jessica even claiming that Ryan had threatened to kill her at one point.
Just like Ryan De Nino, his ex-wife, Jessica Castro, had also appeared in Season 2 of the lifetime series, Married at First Sight, in 2015. As the show’s name suggests, the duo got married after meeting each other for the first time at the altar. They stayed married throughout the span of the six-week ‘social experiment,’ but things between them soon turned sour once the show was done filming.
According to Jessica, Ryan threatened to kill her in March 2015. However, he did not stop there and even included members of her family in his creepy murder vow. As per a Queens Family Court petition filed by Jessica, he said:
“I will break you into fucking pieces. I will break your dad into pieces. I will make your whole family disappear - and your fucking dog-ass sister’s boyfriend.”
Additionally, during the taping of Married at First Sight’s reunion in May 2015, Ryan De Nino allegedly made another slip-up, but this time, it was caught on a live mic. According to the petition, he was heard saying, “She's fucking dead. When I get back to Brooklyn, she's fucking dead, this girl.”
At the time, many compared Ryan’s statement to the admission made by millionaire murder suspect Robert Durst that he “killed them all” on the HBO documentary, The Jinx. Following Ryan’s death threats, the show's producers went as far as to provide his ex-wife, Jessica Castro, with security personnel.
In Family Court, Ryan De Nino faced charges of harassment, menacing, and stalking. He was also ordered to stay away from Jessica until their hearing. Ryan addressed the restraining order on his Instagram, where he claimed that it “had me in awe” and that he felt “disgusted” by the allegations. Later, Kinetic Content, Married at First Sight's producer, also addressed the matter in a lengthy statement which read:
“We don't know all the details and can't comment on the specifics. What we can say is that unfortunately, couples on the show can go through real divorces, and divorce can often be difficult…After undergoing extensive background and psychological checks by third parties, couples agree to be legally married on our show. We document their journey for six weeks after their wedding, but we can't control how they behave or govern their actions after production.”
Ryan De Nino passed away at the age of 40 earlier this week in New Jersey. As of now, details regarding the exact cause of his death have not been made public. Ryan’s sister, Melissa, expressed her grief at the death of her brother and remembered him by sharing a wholesome carousel on Facebook. Penning a tribute, she wrote:
"Ryan was so damn funny and witty. He was fiercely loyal to those he loved. He had a huge heart, always. I can’t explain what it’s like to lose a sibling. Someone who’s been there from the beginning and shares the same memories. No matter what we were going through, I loved him immensely. Life as I know it will never be the same."
