While Robert Kelker-Kelly and Lisa Rinna played the married couple 'Bo Brady' and 'Billie Reed' on Days of Our Lives, they couldn't stand each other in real life. In her memoir You Better Believe I'm Gonna Talk About It, the actress wrote about their explosive relationship in detail, and she didn't mince words. Now, with Robert's passing, their feud is once again creating chatter.
Before we dive into what went down between the two, let's take a look at their collaboration. For those unfamiliar with their work, Robert Kelker-Kelly and Lisa Rinna both joined the daytime show in 1992. It later earned them a Soap Opera Digest Award for Hottest Soap Couple in 1995. However, while their on-screen chemistry was winning awards, they couldn't stand each other once the cameras were off.
In her memoir, You Better Believe I'm Gonna Talk About It, Lisa Rinna explained how, despite the closeness of their characters, she and Robert Kelker-Kelly never formed a close bond. She revealed that even though they filmed together every day, she never got any warmth from her co-star. The actress recalled how they would often shoot "half naked" for their scenes as a couple, and shared that she would struggle to navigate them.
However, even though he knew this, if she didn't listen to Robert Kelker-Kelly, he would give her the silent treatment. Lisa Rinna recalled that she never knew whether he was going to be nice or rude. She reflected on his behavior, calling it unpredictable and exhausting, and said:
"If I didn't do what he wanted, he'd give me the silent treatment. He was a ticking time bomb. I never knew when I arrived on set each morning if I'd get nice Robert Kelker-Kelly or dark Robert Kelker-Kelly. He was unpredictable, and it was exhausting."
In the memoir, Lisa Rinna revealed that they hated each other behind the scenes and called Robert Kelker-Kelly a "real bully". She recalled how he made her life a "living hell" on the set and claimed that he was horrible to her. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum even alleged that he was almost verbally abusive. She was quoted as saying:
"Behind the scenes, we hated each other. Remember when Kathy Hilton said I was the biggest bully in Hollywood? Not true. Not even close! I have legit stories about the real bullies in this town. Robert Kelker-Kelly is one of those bullies. He made my life a living hell on the set of Days. He was horrible to me. I'd go so far as to say verbally abusive. He was passive-aggressive, manipulative, and played weird mind games."
While Lisa Rinna's comments shocked everyone, Robert Kelker-Kelly never commented on them. He left Days of Our Lives in 1995 after three years on the show, and Peter Reckell took over his role as 'Bo'. Lisa left the show soon after. After their departure, they went on to work on several other projects.
However, their careers became stagnant after a point. While Lisa hit a second wave as a reality TV icon and fashionista, Robert faded from the spotlight and left Hollywood entirely. He hadn't appeared in any Hollywood project since his last cameo on General Hospital in 2014. He tragically died after suffering chest pains at his home in Missouri. The local medical examiner's office spokesperson told The U.S. Sun he is believed to have died of natural causes.
