During a recent conversation, Rinku Singh and his fiancee, Priya Saroj, got candid about their relationship. Here's what they said.
Rinku Singh is one of the most talented Indian cricketers. Last year, in 2025, Rinku grabbed a lot of limelight for his personal life. For the unversed, on June 8, 2025, Rinku got engaged to the love of his life, Priya Saroj. While Rinku rules the world of cricket, Priya is part of the political world. She is the youngest female MP and, at the age of 25, she won the seat of Machhlishahr in the Lok Sabha Elections. In a recent interview, the couple opened up about their relationship.
During a recent chat with Manyavar and Mohey, Rinku Singh and his fiancée, Priya Saroj, opened up about the initial days of their relationship. During the conversation, the cricketer shared that for him, it was love at first sight. In the interview, Priya was asked whether she stalked Rinku on social media. In reply, she said that she didn’t stalk but followed his page in the hope of seeking his help to promote her sister’s Instagram handle. During this process, she liked one of his posts. When Priya mentioned that she liked one post of Rinku, the cricketer quickly corrected her, saying, "Not once, but twice." Hearing this, Priya laughed and said, "Yes, twice — but he sent the first message saying 'Hi.'"
During the same interview, the soon-to-be-married couple revealed that their first date took place at a mall. While Rinku kept it casual and turned up wearing shorts, Priya appeared in a proper long dress. However, the cricketer reached four hours late on their very first date, prompting Priya to scold him.
Further in the same interview, Priya shared that Rinku proposed to her. However, her father, Tufani Saroj, was against her relationship at an early stage. During that time, the couple focused entirely on their professional fronts. While Rinku tried his best to secure a place in Team India, Priya pursued her career in the judiciary. At the time, they got little time to spend with each other and could manage meeting just once in every four to five months, often in the presence of their families. Priya mentioned that earlier, in 2022, her father was adamant about arranging her marriage to an IAS officer. Priya’s brother called the cricketer to seek his assurance that he intended to marry her. She added that it took them three years to convince her father.
Priya’s father, once in an interview with PTI, revealed that Rinku Singh and his daughter met through a mutual friend. The duo liked each other but wanted the consent of their families to move forward with their relationship. Thus, their families met each other and made a mutual decision to form a marriage alliance. Talking about the same, Tufani Saroj said:
"Rinku and Priya have known each other for more than a year now. They both liked each other but needed the consent of their families for their relationship. Both families have agreed to this marriage."
For the uninitiated, the couple’s marriage was fixed in January 2025. According to the latest reports, the duo is all set to tie the knot in June 2026 in Kashi. The couple got engaged on June 8, 2025, at The Centrum Hotel in Lucknow. According to multiple reports, the ring ceremony of the couple was attended by 300 VIPs, including Jaya Bachchan, Ikra Hasan, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, Dimple Yadav, Ramgopal Yadav and cricketers like Praveen Kumar, Piyush Chawla, and Aryan Juya.
