'Heeramandi' star, Richa Chadha recalls about a time when she ended up losing a key role to one of the star kids at the very last minute.
Richa Chadha has been garnering unparalleled appreciation and recognition for her incomparable role in the latest project, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. Despite her role of ‘Lajjo’ having a very short screen timing, the actress has nonetheless, left an irremovable mark with her on-point expressions, grace and charm. Moreover, her stellar work has also led to many comparing her with legendary actresses such as Rekha and Madhuri Dixit.
In a recent interaction with Filmygyan, Richa Chadha was asked about her reaction on being compared with Madhuri Dixit, when it comes to her role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi recently. In retrospect, the actress expressed how this has been something which she has learned through experience and not taught. Moreover, Richa also remarked how such experiences hasn’t always been positive ones, and she also faced a lot of setbacks. She further elucidated a moment when she lost out on a role despite giving four rounds of audition, and was replaced suddenly at the last minute by a star-kid or perhaps someone’s girlfriend.

In an earlier interview with the PTI, Richa Chadha was asked about her views on having such a short-duration in role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s multi-starrer series, Heeramandi. While the diva admitted being apprehensive at first about it, and even felt it was a risky matter since the audience might forget her role across the eight-episode long series. However, she added feeling happy that it all finally paid of well. In her words:
“The memories were many and so was the risk, and it all paid off. It's so small and there's always a risk that it'll get lost in the eight episodes with all the actors that are there. A big star cast and other people are also getting a lot of love. So for that reason, I was afraid a little bit that it might get lost, but I'm really glad it hasn't.”
Previously, while speaking with Zoom, Richa Chadha recalled another anecdote from the shooting diaries of Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar and opened up about a crucial scene of hers, which took about 40 retakes to be completed. However, to finally nail the scene, Richa admitted intaking a quarter amount of alcohol to help her out. Adding how everything instead turned out to be worse, Richa said:
“I didn’t want that lethargy in the body movement, I wanted some of it, maybe the precision can go but I didn’t want to let go of the grace."

Back on February 9, 2024, the adorable couple, Richa Chadha and Ali Faizal announced the most beautiful news of their lives, as they embarked on their new journey of parenthood. The duo dropped a snapshot of a paper chit which had on it written, “1+1=3”. They also shared a heartwarming picture of themselves, as they cutely announced their pregnancy.
