The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star had been married to Shawn Trujillo for over two decades. While fans might already be aware that they were recently having issues in their marriage, the duo have now decided to go their separate ways.
A source recently revealed to People that Angie Katsanevas and Shawn Trujillo have separated. The issues in their marriage were previously seen on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 7 at the beginning of 2026. Reportedly, their costars were already aware of the couple's decision to separate.
For those who don't know, Angie and Shawn had tied the knot back in 1999. Over the years, they had welcomed a daughter named Elektra, who is 15 years old at present. Together, they had also co-founded their business, Lunatic Fringe Salons, which can be found in places like Utah, Idaho, and Ohio. Speaking about their split, the source said:
“They have separated officially months ago but are focused on Elektra and trying to stay civil co-parents. Their business together is a big priority for them as well; that’s what they’re trying to figure out.”
While the cause of Angie and Shawn’s split has not yet been revealed, their relationship had been previously called into question. Back when Angie became a main cast member of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City in Season 4, rumours were spreading like wildfire among the women that Shawn was cheating on his wife. Not only that, rumours claimed that he was cheating on her with men.
Things got to such a point that Angie could not help but confront Shawn about the matter. However, he denied the claims and, getting emotional, wondered about the impact such speculation about their relationship and his sexuality would have on their daughter. Later, when Shawn appeared on an October 2023 episode of Watch What Happens Live! with Andy Cohen, Shawn reacted to the chatter once again. He said:
“For me, it’s not a gay-straight thing, it’s an infidelity thing. We love our gay community, we’ve been embedded in it for 30 years now just based on what we do for our business.”
Once they sorted this out, Angie had shared that they were in a good place. But despite her claim, their marital issues continued to come up, with the reality TV star once revealing that they had not gone on a date in two years. Andie had also acknowledged how often people thought Shawn was gay and only stopped when they realized that she was his wife.
However, now that Angie and Shawn are going their separate ways, fans are once again wondering if it is because he is gay and if he has cheated on her. Angie previously said:
“Thirty years ago, when Shawn and I first met, people would say, ‘Oh, that guy’s hot’ or ‘He has nice legs’ while he was doing hair. ‘Is he gay?’ ‘No, that’s his wife over there.’ Once it was established that we were a couple in Salt Lake City, it wasn’t brought up.”
As soon as the news broke that Angie and Shawn are going their separate ways, fans took to social media to react to their split. One user wrote, “I don't think he is straight…That is probably why.” Another wrote, “The way she talked about marriage never seemed like it was healthy. Seemed like they spent all their time on their businesses and then their daughter and don't really have much of a romantic relationship.” A third user penned, “They didn't seem like a couple; he always seemed angry and miserable. I think she can do better.”
