And now, in a recent update, it was revealed that Mia is facing potential jail time.
According to court documents that have been obtained by TMZ, a felony theft charge has been filed by the Fulton County District Attorney against Mia Thornton. The documents alleged that Mia and her associate named Jared McGriff, had stolen furniture as well as a TV, which was worth somewhere between USD 5K and USD 25K, on October 28, 2025. This was just a couple of weeks before the reality star was arrested. The alleged crime took place when Mia and Jared were moving out of a furnished condo in the middle of the night.
For the unversed, Mia Thornton was arrested in Georgia last year and booked into the Fulton County Jail on November 19, 2025, on felony theft charges. Reports from the time stated that the RHOP alum were cuffed after police at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson airport were called to the Customs and Border Protection office. When police arrived, they were informed of a wanted person.
The manager of the condo from where Mia allegedly stole the furniture claimed that she abruptly ‘moved out of the unit in the middle of the night,’ without any prior notice. The manager even claimed that the cost of the stolen items was around USD 11,000.
The police body camera footage showed Mia Thornton telling the officers that she was aware she had a warrant out for her arrest. While being moved to a private area of the airport, Mia asked officers if she could make a phone call to someone who allegedly had “the storage key” because she “just wanted to put that furniture back.”
Mia Thornton also claimed that “enough is enough” and that there had been several emails of her asking for the furniture to be returned. At the time, the arresting officer informed her that she would be able to make a phone call in about 30 minutes after she was placed in a holding cell.
Mia Thornton broke her silence after her arrest for the first time when she marked her 41st birthday on November 25, 2025. In a post on Instagram, she spoke about staying grounded in the midst of chaos. She wrote:
"Composure over chaos. Grace over noise. This birthday, I’m choosing alignment, elevation, and elegance – always. This past week reminded me of the importance of staying grounded, especially when life feels loud. I’m stepping into another year with clarity, accountability, and gratitude. Challenges don’t define me – how I rebuild does.”
Mia Thornton followed up the post just a few hours later with another positive message, writing, “Refined. Unmoved, Unshakable. I don't break – I become better. Happy Birthday to me.”
The Real Housewives of Potomac alum stated that she was going through some unexpected moments; it only made her remember who she was. Thanking her fans who continued to support her journey, Mia Thornton added:
“In the midst of unexpected moments, I’m remembering who I am: a mother, a creator, a woman evolving in real time. I’m choosing peace, accountability, and personal growth. Thank you to those who continue to support my journey.”
