Commander, Reid Wiseman made his first post after he returned to Earth from his trip to the moon. He described about how he felt after coming back.
NASA's ace astronaut, Reid Wiseman, became one of the great voices of the historic Artemis 11 mission. The crew that consisted of Victor Glover, Christina Koch, Jeremy Hansen, and Reid had a successful splashdown in the gigantic Pacific Ocean. The Orion spacecraft was seen entering Earth's atmosphere at high speed. Astronauts are highly trained to endure the physical and mental strain of space travel. It was no different for Reid, who, a while back, shared his first post after returning to Earth from space.
A report by BBC.com revealed that NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen were examined by doctors aboard the US warship. They were then flown ashore by helicopters, and Reid, a while back, took to his Instagram handle to share the first moment of his, after he landed on Earth. He gave a glimpse of what looked like the Pacific Ocean from the helicopter and wrote:
"On the helicopter leaving the ship right now. This planet is impossibly beautiful from every altitude I’ve seen it…surface to 250,000 miles."
Netizens loved the way Reid Wiseman described the beauty of the Earth. One of the users wrote, "Thank you for taking us to the moon with you. You have inspired us all. Welcome home." Welcoming the astronaut home, a user wrote, "Thank you for sharing the ride with us. Welcome home, Reid! Thank you for giving us hope in humanity." A user even shared:
"Thank you for carrying out the mission perfectly and this is so amazing the first experience of seeing an astronaut go to the moon in my life so amazed. Thank you for showing us what great leadership is like! Welcome back! Thanks for carrying our boy Rise. With some impossibly beautiful people - like you four - and your team at NASA! We appreciate you all."
For those who do not know, the crew of NASA's Artemis II gave the most heartfelt tribute to Reid's wife, Carroll Wiseman. A bright crater on the Moon was named after her, and the emotional moment was captured on NASA's livestream. Canadian astronaut, Jeremy Hansen, had radioed to mission control. Hanen had said that they had lost a loved one, whose name was Carroll, the spouse of Reid, the mother of Katey and Ellie. He had described the crater as a bright spot on the moon and called it Carroll. Fans loved how a crater on the Moon was dedicated to Carroll and said:
"Welcome home! You lassoed the moon for Carroll! We are all so proud of you all! From the vastness of silence, aboard Artemis II, humanity contemplates itself without noise, without borders, and without pride: merely a heartbeat suspended in eternity. The Earth, fragile and luminous, reminds us that everything we are and love lives on that blue dot that seems so defenseless from here, while the Moon, serene, teaches us that even in the darkness there are always paths to discover."
For those who do not know, on April 1, 2026, NASA's Orion spacecraft carried the four Artemis II astronauts on a trip to the moon, and they travelled 690,000 miles during the mission. They had set up a new record, as reportedly they travelled 252,756 miles away from the Earth. Well, for the Artemis II crew, their rocket to the moon and back was historic, as since 1972 they have been the first humans to have travelled to the moon and come back.
