In a recent conversation, Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor's co-star shared details about their camaraderie on the sets of 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' post their breakup.
The 2013 blockbuster film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani proved to be a trendsetter in Hindi cinema. The Gen-Next filmmaker, Ayan Mukerji, introduced a fresh storyline to the audience. The film starred Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Kalki Koechli, and Aditya Roy Kapur in the lead roles. YJHD marked Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone’s first collaboration after their breakup.
Actor Naveen Kaushik, who played a brief role in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, spoke about Ranbir and Deepika’s on-set chemistry after their breakup. Revealing how the entire crew anticipated a fight or an awkward moment between Ranbir and Deepika, who were once a couple, Naveen revealed:
“Like everyone else, we also thought a fight might break out at any time, and we were almost anticipating that if something happened, we'd witness it and have some gossip to talk about. But nothing like that happened. They were absolutely professional on set."
In the same interaction, Naveen revealed that, despite their breakup, Ranbir and Deepika maintained their professionalism and never felt any jealousy toward each other. In his words:
“Our shoot was extremely gruelling, not because of long working hours, but because of the locations. Despite that, there were always parties with the entire cast and crew in between. They were very cordial and very nice. There was no sparks happening whether romantic or jealousy. They were very fun to be with and always open to talk with other crews.”
Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor’s whirlwind romance was one of the most talked-about relationships in Tinseltown back in the 2000s. The two met while shooting the Siddharth Anand film, Bachna Ae Haseeno, and fell passionately in love. Deepika and Ranbir dated for two years before parting ways in 2009, reportedly after Ranbir allegedly cheated on Deepika with Katrina Kaif.
After their nasty breakup, the two moved on in their respective lives. Deepika found love in Ranveer Singh's arms, and they married in 2018. The couple became proud parents to a daughter, whom they named Dua. Meanwhile, Ranbir settled down with Alia Bhatt in 2022, and they welcomed their first child, Raha Kapoor, in the same year.
