Rajkummar Rao and Patralekhaa have dropped a sneak peek of their daughter and revealed her name. Read to find out its meaning and Sanskrit roots.
Bollywood actors, Rajkummar Rao and Patralekhaa have recently become parents, welcoming their first child, a baby girl, on November 15, 2025. The couple had double celebrations on the day as it also marks their fourth wedding anniversary. Rajkummar and Patralekhaa shared the happy news with their fans through a social media post, who took to the comment section to congratulate them on the new chapter of their lives. The new parents have since maintained privacy, and only after the little one turned two months old did they share her first glimpse with the world and reveal her name.
Happiness abounds for Rajkummar Rao and Patralekhaa as they experience parenthood for the first time. On January 18, 2026, Rajkummar Rao and Patralekhaa dropped the first glimpse of their little angel. They didn't reveal their baby girl's face, but they shared something even more adorable. It's a picture of the parents, Rajkummar and Patralekhaa, holding hands with their child. The image exudes warmth and love, and so did its caption, which included the name reveal of the little one. The caption could be read as:
"With folded hands and full hearts, we introduce our greatest blessing PARVATI PAUL RAO."
Rajkummar and Patralekhaa's daughter's first name, Parvati, is a Sanskrit word meaning "daughter of the mountain" or "she of the mountains," derived from Parvata (mountain). In Hinduism, Parvati is a principal goddess, the consort of Lord Shiva, and the mother of Ganesha and Kartikeya. The name Parvati is signifies strength, grace, and devotion. It represents the balance of power (Shakti) with compassion and serenity. The baby's middle name, Paul represents Patralekhaa's family name. Rao, the last name reflects Rajkummar's family name.
The inclusion of both parental surnames, Paul and Rao, signifies a commitment to equality and a shared family legacy, moving away from traditional naming conventions that often exclude the mother's maiden surname. Thus, the name, Parvati Paul Rao, is deeply rooted in Indian tradition while reflecting a progressive choice by Rajkummar and Patralekhaa to honour both of their roots in their child's identity.
Rajkummar Rao and Patralekhaa announced their pregnancy in July 2025, four months before welcoming their baby girl. They shared the news via a social media post that read 'Baby on the way.' The post featured a graphic illustration of a baby cradle with the caption 'Elated'. The announcement received an outpouring of congratulations and love from fans and fellow Bollywood celebrities, including Farah Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Huma Qureshi, and Bhumi Pednekar. Following the pregnancy announcement, Rajkummar and Patralekhaa expressed their excitement about embracing parenthood in an interview with HT. Rajkummar stated:
"We are absolutely thrilled, to be honest. We feel like a lot of our friends, who are parents, have been telling us that this is going to be the best phase of your life. So, we are looking forward to it, and it is still sinking in. Every day is a new day. We have known each other for 15 years. We have grown up together. So, we are still sometimes like, 'what, actually, this is happening. We're going to be parents.'"
Rajkummar Rao and Patralekhaa crossed paths in 2010 for a work project. They began dating in 2011 and worked together in their first film, CityLights, in 2014. Over the years, they have described each other as their biggest support systems, both personally and professionally. They experienced a brief breakup during the early stages of their relationship, but eventually reconciled. After over a decade of dating, they tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Chandigarh on November 15, 2021. Now, their family has grown from two to three, and they are enjoying their new lives as parents.
We wish Rajkummar Rao, Patralekhaa and little Parvati lots of love and light!
