Bengali actor, Rahul Arunoday Banerjee's death while shooting at Talsari beach has raised serious safety concerns. On top of it, the conflicting statements further confuse the case.
Famous Bengali actor, Rahul Arunoday Banerjee's death at the age of 43 while shooting for a serial has raised serious concern. As per reports, he died due to accidental drowning at Talsari beach in Digha near the Odisha-West Bengal border. He was shooting for a sequence of the television show Bhole Baba Par Karega.
Rahul passed away at around 5:30 p.m. on March 29, 2026. He was shooting for a sequence with his co-actress, Sweta Mishra, in the water near Talsari beach. As per reports, the water was knee-deep, and they were dancing for a shot. However, at the same time, they both fell into a ditch. However, Sweta was able to come out while Rahul did not, and he succumbed to death. After this, he was taken out of the water and was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
In an interview with ANI, SP Balasore shared that Talsari police found out about the accident from Digha police that a Bengali actor's body was rushed to Digha Medical. After this, a verification and investigation were started by the two police teams. The SP confirmed that Rahul and Sweta fell into a ditch while shooting for a scene in the deep waters. He also highlighted a serious question that the production team had not taken permission to shoot the sequence at the beach. They didn't even mention the shoot. Now, both regions' police teams are working together to opt for legal action.
The famous filmmaker, Subhrajit Mitra, also pointed out that there were differences in the statements around the death of Rahul Arunoday Banerjee and what followed on the fateful evening. He mentioned that the production team needs to come out and tell what exactly happened. He said:
"There are differences in statements. There are some grey areas that need to be focused on and the truth needs to come out. The production team needs to come clean about what actually happened."
He even noted how there are multiple statements. The co-actress is saying one thing, the production manager another, and the producer a different account of what happened. He stated that when he first found out about Rahul's demise, it was through a friend who shared a post, but he initially thought it was a promotional post for his project. When he called people close to him, he found out that it was actual news. He said:
"There are three to four kinds of statements. The co-actress is saying something else, the production manager and producer are saying something else. The news is really shocking. A friend from the industry sent the post for the first time and I was taken aback. I didn’t have the time to open Facebook. Initially, I thought it was a promotional strategy for a premiere or something because such things keep happening often. Then I called up a few friends and when they confirmed it, that’s when it really struck me."
Rahul Arunoday Banerjee is one of the famous Bengali actors. He has been a child actor and worked in the industry since he was three years old. He started his career by performing in theatre groups. He rose to immense fame with his show, Khela. Later, he made his debut with the 2008 film, Chirodini Tumi Je Amar. He is also loved for his performance in films such as Love Circus, Shono Mon Boli Tomay, Aabar Aashbo Phire, Goray Gondogol, and a few others. Apart from his film, he had made his presence felt with TV shows, Tumi Ashbe Bole, Desher Maati, Swapno Udaan, Laalkuthi, and more.
