Actor and singer, Prashant Tamang, died at the age of 43 on January 11, 2026. The tragic incident left his friends, family and fans heartbroken. The ones who followed his journey to stardom and were proud of his achievements expressed their condolences on his passing. As Prashant left the world early, the Indian entertainment industry got deprived of a talented individual's contributions. He received a lot of love during his stint on Indian Idol Season 3 and for his performance in Paatal Lok Season 2. Recently, his wife, Geeta Thapa, opened up on his death, confirming the reason for his untimely demise.
In a January 11, 2026, interview with ANI, Geeta Thapa (also known as Martha Alley) revealed that her husband, Prashant Tamang, died peacefully in his sleep at their residence in Janakpuri, New Delhi. She confirmed his cause of death as "natural". Her clarification regarding Prashant's natural death came amid surfaced comments that he was "hale and hearty" just days prior to his fatal cardiac arrest. According to police statements, Geeta brought him to Mata Chanan Devi Hospital, where doctors declared him "dead on arrival". Prashant's wife of almost fifteen years was by his side in his final moments at the hospital. Geeta told ANI:
"It was a natural death. He was in his sleep when he left us. I was right beside him at that time."
Geeta Thapa expressed profound gratitude for the global outpouring of love from fans, following her husband's death. She shared that she has been receiving calls from all over the world and described the response as "overwhelming". In her first public reaction to Prashant Tamang's demise, Geeta requested that fans keep loving the departed and remember him as a "great soul" and a "great human being". She mentioned that unknown people from around the globe came to the hospital and stood outside their house to pay their respects to Prashant. Thanking those individuals for their love, support and condolences, Geeta stated:
"Thank you to everyone. I've been receiving calls from all over the world. People that I know, people that I don't know, I've been getting flowers. People are standing outside my house; people have come to the hospital to see him for the last time. It's really overwhelming for me, and please love him as you have loved him earlier. He was a great soul, he was a great human. I hope you remember him like that."
According to reports, Prashant Tamang's wife, Geeta Thapa, is a flight attendant. She likes to stay away from the spotlight and has kept her Instagram private. Prashant and Geeta first met on an international flight, when she was a flight attendant and he was en route to one of his musical tours in Dimapur, Nagaland. The duo later became friends and kept in touch. The exact timing of their first meeting is not publicly known; however, it was not later than 2010.
Prashant Tamang and Geeta Thapa's bond of friendship soon blossomed into love, and not long after, they decided to tie the knot in a private ceremony on February 16, 2011. For a decade, the couple spent their married life happily, having each other as their world. Then their little angel, Ariah, arrived, doubling their happiness. Their family turned from two to three when their only child was born in 2022. Baby Ariah was three years old when her father passed away.
