Phoebe Gates rarely speaks about her past relationships. This is why fans were surprised when she opened up about her relationship with her “childhood sweetheart” and their breakup when she appeared on an episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast.
While speaking with host Alex Cooper, Phoebe said that she told her then-boyfriend that she wanted to become a senator one day. However, instead of being encouraging, he gave a reply that was not so positive. He said, “I just think if you were a senator, it would be hard for the kids.”
While the internet personality did not reveal the name of her ex-boyfriend, she said that she asked him what kids he was referring to. Phoebe also questioned his reaction to what she said because it was “so negative.” Hearing her recollection, Alex agreed that the remark was indeed sexist. She also shared with Phoebe Gates how she was asked about her “timeline for kids” at a business meeting.
During the same conversation, Phoebe confessed that despite not liking her childhood sweetheart’s comment, she was “still fully believing” that the pair would tie the knot one day. In fact, when her best friend, Sophia Kianni, told her that it would be better for her to “dump” him, Phoebe admitted that she became a “little mad.”
According to Phoebe, she had become “delusional,” thinking, “This bitch is trying to sabotage me and doesn't realize he's my husband. Whatever.” However, as you can already expect, the former couple eventually broke up after four years of dating.
Their split left Phoebe “a mess,” and while she tried to come to terms with the breakup, Kianni stood by her as the “most supportive friend…giving the best advice.” Phoebe then went on to gush about her, calling Kianni “incredible.”
After Phoebe's Relationship with her childhood sweetheart ended, she later found love again. As per reports, Phoebe Gates is currently dating Chaz Flynn. They had initially begun dating when they were in high school in Seattle, Washington. But after graduating from school, they went their separate ways.
Years later, Phoebe and Chaz reconnected and sparked romance rumors when they were seen on a dinner date in Manhattan back in May 2021. At that time, the duo was accompanied by Phoebe’s father, Bill Gates, as they dined at the trendy hotspot, Nobu.
Phoebe and Chaz went official on Instagram in December 2025. Phoebe posted an adorable photo of herself cuddling up to her new boyfriend. The snap also showed the duo dressed up in formal attire, with Chaz holding a martini glass in his hand.
It is worth mentioning that Chaz Flynn is not a fan of social media. During a September 2025 episode of The Burnouts, Phoebe revealed the same while talking to her guest, Gary Vee. She said:
"I'm dating a guy who literally doesn't have Instagram. Like, he deletes it.”
