The 44-year-old quarterback was signed to the practice squad and subsequently made it to the active roster as the team faced a quarterback shortage due to injuries to Daniel Jones, Riley Leonard, and Anthony Richardson. Philip is currently playing his third game of the season for the Colts in their Monday Night Football clash against the San Francisco 49ers, which was scheduled for December 23, 2025. Philip Rivers has made it to the professional football game after five long years, that too in his 40s. His wife, Tiffany, was concerned about the NFL player's health as he entered the stressful career path after a long hiatus. According to Yahoo Sports, Philip acknowledged his wife's concerns and revealed that she was his "biggest fan" and support system. According to him, her nervousness regarding his gameplay stemmed from her care for him. Regarding her, Philip Rivers stated:
"My wife has been my biggest fan the whole time I played, and she's nervous about the physical aspect of it, as you expect any wife to. I mean, for 250 games or whatever it was, that was a risk, as you see every week."
Philip Rivers thinks his wife's concerns were valid, as the NFL currently is filled with young guns who are way more energetic and spirited than he is. Making a comeback to professional sports after becoming a dad of 10 and also a grandfather isn't easy, which led to Tiffany's concerns. Philip mentioned that players these days were "big and fast," and thus, he was not resorting to aggressive gameplay to avoid collisions with other players, which led to an injury. Regarding taking his second phase of career slow and steady, Philip Rivers said:
"Dudes are big and fast, just like they were, so I'm just taking it one day at a time. You never hope or expect something like that to happen, but shoot, if something like that happens, I'd have a long time to recover."
Even though Philip Rivers adopted a safe gameplay method to avoid injury, he wasn't scared of going back to the field and play for the Indianapolis Colts alongside a young and talented bunch of players. Philip wants his sons and the students he coached to look up to him and say that he was brave enough to take up the challenge of returning to professional football after a long break. For the unversed, Philip Rivers was the head football coach at St. Michael Catholic High School in Fairhope, Alabama. He mentioned:
"Hopefully, my sons and those ball players that I'm in charge of at the school, they'll say like, 'Crap, coach wasn't scared.'"
